I attended the store at 6:30pm today for a battery replacement appointment, which had been booked in advance through the Apple system. We specifically booked a battery repair appointment because we needed the battery replaced. After travelling all the way to the store, we were told in person that they couldn’t carry out the repair because they were too busy. The frustrating part is that the appointment was booked specifically for this service and at this particular time. The impression we were given by the staff was essentially that booking a battery appointment didn’t actually guarantee that the battery could be replaced at the time we had been given. If the store was too busy to carry out the repair, the appointment should never have been offered in the first place. We shouldn’t have had to travel to the store only to be told that they couldn’t honour an appointment that had been booked through the Apple system. This was a complete waste of our time and extremely frustrating customer service.

I would just like to thank, every member of staff who approached me in the Apple Store today. Unfortunately my purse had dropped out of my bag, when dropping my car off for repairs. The garage had kindly dropped me off at Meadowhall, whist my car was being repaired. It was only when I reached in my handbag to make a purchase that I realised I didn’t have my purse. Unfortunately My cards are not on my phone. Just to add to my dilemma, my phone went flat. So I went to the Apple Store and feeling stressed and stupid spoke to the security at the door. Without hesitation, knowing I hadn’t a penny on me offered me the use of a charger. A member of staff then approached and offered me a charger with a seat. Then another sales person offered me the use of a plug in charger and placed my phone on are-plane mode to speed the charging process. Not one member of the sales team suggested I need an upgrade. They just genially wanted to help a mature lady in need. My Husband and Children have always assisted me when purchasing phones in the past. However the kindness shown to me today, has given me the confidence to purchase my next upgrade in the Apple Store at Meadowhall, even though it is a 90 minute drive away from my home. Whilst charging my phone, I witnessed other customers purchasing phones and wanting technical advise. Every customer was treated with equal respect, not bombarded with technical jargon or rushed to get to the next customer. Thank you so much. Such kindness and customer service, beyond my expectations. The Apple Store at Meadowhall has made a life long customer out of myself, family and friends. Best wishes Joanne

I left work early to make my 5:20 pm appointment, only to arrive at 4:45 pm and be politely told I was far too enthusiastic and couldn’t check in until 10 minutes before my appointment. Fair enough—I wandered around Meadowhall and returned at 5:10 pm to check in. I then took my place on what I can only describe as Apple’s minimalist “cube of contemplation.” I’m still not sure whether it’s a seat, a piece of modern art, or a gentle reminder that comfort is a premium feature. Then… nothing. No update. No indication of how long I’d be waiting. No “you’re next.” Just me, wondering whether I’d accidentally become part of the furniture. By 5:35 pm I approached a member of staff because I genuinely thought I’d been forgotten. I was eventually seen at 5:45 pm by Kandra, who was brilliant. Friendly, professional and genuinely helpful. She couldn’t have handled things any better, so this isn’t a criticism of her in the slightest. The surprise came next. A straightforward battery replacement couldn’t be completed that day and would require leaving my phone overnight. Kandra kindly tried to find another solution and offered me an appointment the following morning, but the phone wouldn’t even be looked at until 8:30 am. As that wasn’t practical, I was rebooked for Monday at 10:00 am. My biggest issue isn’t actually the repair—it’s the communication. Apple sells itself as a premium brand, yet nobody thought to say, “Just to let you know, we’re running 30–40 minutes behind.” If I’d known that when I checked in, I could have gone for a coffee, carried on shopping or simply come back later. Instead, I spent over an hour waiting because nobody kept me informed. Waiting is understandable; wasting customers’ time isn’t. While we’re at it, can we talk about the uniforms? Every member of staff seems to wear the same top. As a customer, I had no idea who was a salesperson, who was a technician, who was a manager or who I should actually ask for help. Why not have different coloured shirts or clear badges? Something simple like: * Blue – Sales * Green – Genius/Technician * Black – Management * Red – Repairs It would make navigating the store much easier instead of playing “Guess Who?” every time you need assistance. The irony is that I only chose Apple because my phone is relatively new and I wanted an official repair, much like servicing a new car at the main dealer to protect its value. In reality, independent repair shops often cost less, repair devices more quickly and keep customers better informed. Kandra was excellent and deserves recognition, but the overall experience didn’t match the premium image Apple promotes. Premium products deserve premium customer service—and that includes respecting customers’ time. Hopefully my battery lasts longer than my patience did.

I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from Apple. I purchased a charger only a few weeks ago, and it broke simply from being unplugged during normal use. Considering I’ve purchased more than six Apple chargers this year due to similar issues, I expected the company to stand behind the quality of its products. When I contacted customer service, I was hoping for a replacement or at least some form of goodwill gesture, given how frequently I’ve had to replace these chargers. Unfortunately, I received no meaningful assistance, no replacement, and no compensation. I’ve always expected better from a company with Apple’s reputation for quality and customer service. This experience has been frustrating and has left me very disappointed. I hope Apple reviews both the durability of its charging accessories and the way it handles loyal customers facing repeated product failures.
