Bit of a late review, but I took my car here to diagnose a no-start issue. I asked them to check the start-stop system, scan for codes, and inspect the 48V battery. I had already purchased and fitted a new Bosch 12V AGM battery myself, so I also simply requested that they program this and charge it if needed.
Instead, they scanned the codes and fitted a completely new 12V battery—which wasn’t confirmed with me beforehand—and I was charged for the battery, labour, and diagnostics (£125 for the first hour, £75/hr after). They advised that the 48V battery had 'low' voltage and required replacement before any further checks could be done. This would have cost £1,000+ with a multi-week delay due to main dealer backorders.
Only around 3 days after providing this incorrect diagnosis, I was pushed to remove the vehicle, being told, "I need this car moving ASAP please need the space for other jobs."
Instead, I took the car to a specialist. It turned out the 48V battery was completely fine. The specialist correctly identified a faulty voltage converter, replaced it, and successfully fixed the no-start issue along with the related and secondary codes. I presume my original 12V battery (and the unauthorized replacement which also went flat) were simply draining because of this faulty converter, as the battery successfully recharged once the converter was replaced by the specialist.
Adam seemed like a decent lad who tried to help, but for modern MHEV vehicles and complex issues, the specialised knowledge and diagnostic equipment didn’t seem to be quite there—especially given the premium diagnostic pricing.
