Where do I even begin with Titan Systems.
I rang them at approximately 3.45am this morning, and explained that my fire door Yale handle had locked itself in the opposite position. I was quoted a flat £80 to fix it, with an estimated arrival time of 20 minutes.
20 minutes later I ring back to ask where he is. He hadn’t even left yet, he said “I was waiting for you to give me the go ahead” which I quite clearly did on the first call 20 minutes prior.
So then had to wait a further 20 minutes for him to eventually show up.
Started well…
Then he finally gets to my door, he tries to unlock my door from the outside, that didn’t work, so I let him in through my window for him to unlock from the inside, he unlocked the door.
He diagnosed that three internal parts had failed (quoting around £385), claimed the entire mechanism was dead, and then casually suggested I buy a replacement and fit it myself. Fair enough, except he then demanded £96, claiming the £80 quote suddenly excluded VAT, which was never mentioned on the initial call.
As I called him out on his hidden fees and switched-up pricing, he managed to lose the two screws to my existing lock. Instead of looking for them, he chose to try and threaten me: "We can go the easy way or the hard way, it’s up to you." When pressed on what the "hard way" meant, he stumbled over a vague, contradictory threat about sending "someone" from his "own company" for debt recovery, whilst having zero idea of how any of it worked.
A formal report has already been logged with Trading Standards for aggressive commercial practices and misleading pricing, alongside a complete audit trail of the call logs and his conduct. Absolute clown show. Best of luck explaining this one to your management.
