Well my iPhone’s screen started to flicker quite randomly and then stop intermittently. As I use it for work primarily, I took it to the Apple Store Norwich, now fortunately my first engagement at the Genius Bar was with a young lady called Ruby, who has been absolutely amazing through each of my FOUR visits in this last week to the store.
Ruby passed me to a colleague who gave the impression of being knowledgable, he noticed that I needed to update software and told me that was the issue. Unfortunately, the screen was static at the time, so I left and hoped for the best. Got home issue started, so I booked an appointment for the Wednesday.
Again Ruby saw me and personally dealt with the issue with a secondary review, again fingers crossed I left again a few hours later the same issue stared.
This time I received a Customer Survey asking for feedback on my experience. I left a detailed review and suggested that perhaps a Manager might call me. I again made another appointment for Saturday.
Third visit, Ruby welcomed me at the door booked me in and then by good fortune I was met by Andy a Manager who had seen my review and had attempted to call me, but as I had left my phone off till I got to the Apple Store, I was unaware. Anyway, he then logged that I was coming in for an appointment and said he would see me.
Switching the phone on and seeing the issue first hand, he diagnosed the issue immediately, told me that the entire screen needed changing and as the phone was in warranty, they would do it no charge at all.
I agreed to return for the fourth time on Sunday and
again was met by Ruby, who advised me that she had done the repair on my phone personally with Andy.
So I waited and was seen by a blond middle aged lady sadly whose name I don’t retain, but she advised that she would get me phone.
After all these visits, and almost on first name terms with staff, the question she asked me and her response soured the whole experience.
She returned with my phone in a protective cover and then asked me for ID, I advised her that I had just come from the gym, I wasn’t advised to bring, ID by Andy.
Her response was “Oh come on you know you should have ID”!!
My response to her was somewhat terse and I suggested she go and speak with Ruby at the door who would vouch for my fourth visit that week and perhaps speak with Andy. Why would I be sitting in an Apple Store with an empty phone protector cover.
She left me and went to the door. Stupidly, she left me with the phone I could have just taken the phone and walked out. She returned, very curt, brisk, no apology, no explanation.
“Read this” pointing to the iPad “And sign it”!!
After me asking a couple of questions, I said thank you and left.
My general experience was great, staff and colleagues polite, respectful, helpful and I was appreciative of their support.
Ideally could have done with not making four visits in one week with the cost of fuel, parking etc but the matter was resolved.
Perhaps, amazingly the middle aged lady I experienced might benefit from some customer service and engagement skills, not what I expected.
Anyway, thank you Apple Store Norwich for your perseverance and resolving the issue. Much appreciated.
