I would not recommend this branch. My recent experience fell significantly short of the standard I have come to expect from CEX as a chain, and I would direct anyone in the area to CEX Tooting instead, where staff are professional and transparent. I visited the store on 29 March 2026 to sell my Marshall MOTIF II A.N.C. earphones — a product I had originally purchased from another CEX branch a few years ago. From the outset, the member of staff who served me was unprofessional in both manner and conduct. When I asked for a trade-in valuation, I was handed wipes to clean the earphones, which I did without issue. After inspecting them and noting the serial number, the assistant quoted me approximately £31. I then asked to view a Samsung headset from the display cabinet, which he retrieved. He then came around to my side of the counter and stood in my personal space while I examined the item — behaviour I found unnecessarily intrusive and uncomfortable. I returned the headphones and he went back behind the counter. He then revised his quote downward to £30 store credit, delivered in a condescending tone. At this point I queried whether he had correctly identified the product, specifically confirming these were the Mark II variant. He told me they were not. I directed him to the rear of the charging case, where "MOTIF II A.N.C." is clearly printed. He reluctantly revised his valuation, but his manner deteriorated further from that point. I chose to decline the transaction and left. I want to be clear: I have no issue with being offered a lower valuation — that is a commercial decision. My concern is the manner in which I was served. The assistant was dismissive, made an easily avoidable product identification error, and became noticeably more hostile when corrected. This is not acceptable customer service, and I believe his conduct reflects poorly on the CEX brand. I will be submitting a formal complaint to CEX head office regarding this incident.

Edit following CeX's response: Thank you for your reply! I won't be proceeding with further checks because if 6 fully functioning devices in very good condition have somehow "failed" your testing, it is obvious that the problem is not the devices. 🤔 ------- My original review: The reason I went to the store in Morden is because of the clear and attractive quote on the CeX website, which suggested that my six devices - old iPads and Samsung tablets were eligible for purchase. So, I got a surprisingly good quote online. Our initial interaction with the staff was perfectly fine. The staff member inspected my devices visually and even commented on how well they had been kept. One of the iPads was returned because of a dent in the charging port, which I hadn’t spotted since it was working and I had no issues. No argument about that. So, I left the other five devices, all factory-reset and fully charged. When the young lad who accepted them phoned me to confirm the sale, he actually said that “None of the devices works. We cannot buy them.” He also said there was a SIM card inside one of them, but there wasn't. I completely understand that it is CeX’s right to decide whether to buy something, and I would never argue with that. However, when a false statement is used as justification, I will challenge it! No matter that it doesn’t change the situation. It is simply not true what they gave me as a reason! In fact, all the devices do work well, and I was still using one of the Samsungs until last month, when I got a newer model. So, if CeX had given me something like: “These devices are too old or too slow for our standards,” I would have accepted that immediately. If it were simply company policy, again, no argument from me. But attracting customers with online quotes and then claiming that fully working devices “do not work” is simply not acceptable. When I returned to the store to collect them, the same staff member started arguing. Fine, he had to explain himself. But his colleague joined in, despite not actually knowing what had happened. These were his exact words, not mine! Yet he still felt compelled to intervene. Eventually, they both saw that the devices did work, so a new explanation came. Apparently, the tablets had not passed their checklist because CeX allegedly offers a five-year warranty to its customers. Come on! This would have been amusing if it were not so absurd! When these devices were brand new, bought from Apple and Samsung stores, they did not come with a five-year warranty, yet we are now supposed to believe that a 5-year warranty is offered on very old second-hand devices! Please think of something more creative, CeX! Is this done to encourage people to bring in their devices, only to later declare them unsellable, hoping that customers will simply leave them behind so CeX can sell them? Or is it simply a matter of staff not taking the time to properly test devices? I cannot answer that. I am not sure whether the issue lies with the company’s policies or with the staff at the shop in Morden. In either case, it is their problem. Some of my devices have already found happy new owners, as I gladly donated them. The remaining ones will make also be given away. I am leaving it to the readers to make up their own minds, based on my honest review, but my strong recommendation is to avoid CeX.

I wanted to return a laptop purchased at another store, that was in an unacceptable condition, with a keyboard filled with dust and food crumbs that took a good half an hour to clear out. I was assisted by a very helpful and knowledgeable member of staff called Jason, who processed the return and make sure someone called me after the laptop checks had been made. Since I bought in person I was issued paper exchange vouchers and by another member of staff and asked for it to be linked to my CEX online account, but he said he'd already processed it and wasn't possible. So I left with paper vouchers to the value of £450 that I wasnt entirely comfortable with.
