If you care about quality, I'd recommend going somewhere else. I dropped off a ballgown, my wedding dress and a traditional Chinese dress. When I dropped it off, it was inspected and nothing was said.
When I got the dresses back, the ballgown was missing the eye in the hook and eye and the corset panel snaps were all broken. The traditional Chinese dress shoulder pads are also not attached properly, but those are small (still bad) damages compared to what happened to my wedding dress.
When I went to pick up the dresses, they claimed they could not get the "black marks off" the white wedding dress (marks that were not there when I dropped off). Upon inspection, I realised they had unpicked the sewn on belt and cups off dress. The cups and belt snaps were missing. In its place were two flimsy flaps of fabric that (also not there before) and a belt sewn on with a loose stitch across the top, leaving the belt in the wrong position and flapping about, half on. They also caught the inner lining on the back of the dress when attaching the front of the belt and sewed over the invisible zip on the side, so you physically cannot open the dress or get into the dress.
I asked them to pay me back and to cover the cost of having my seamstress repair these dresses, which they refused, and wanted me to leave the dresses with them to "fix themselves".
They already broke that trust so I insisted on taking the dresses back. They were hesitant at and didn't understand why this was such a big deal.
I was distraught and when I confronted them with the dresses, they said, "we're all adults here, there's no need to act like children. I've been doing this for 35 years and these things happen. Life happens."
Sir, if you have done this for 35 years, you'd know to take care of garments and not dismantle them without the owners permission. Do not condescend me and tell me I should not be angry. This is an important garment you've now ruined.
Edit after owner's comment: I did not leave happily, I was resigned and defeated. I left knowing I would not have my dress poorly put back together after this business lost my trust. You did not explain or mention that you would disassemble the dress and those marks were definitely not there when I dropped it off. And if you had, I would not have left the dress with you. Don't try to write yourself off as the good guy. I paid £100 for the dress to be cleaned. My mistake for thinking you'd take care of the clothes.
