CeX can be a hit and miss experience, with the quality of the goods being inconsistently rated. That said, I had a great experience buying a used Asus Chromebook graded B ("good") via the website and collecting it at the Elephant and Castle store. Maybe it was Rachel who helped me (I collected it around 11am on Tues 23 June, 2026. Unfortunately I didn't catch the clerk's name at the time but the inventory sticker on the back of the laptop has that name, and I think she said she was the one who acquired it for the store the previous week). Collection was a great experience. I asked to test it in the store to check for any unexpected issues, and she plugged it in, charged it for me, and gave me time and space to test it out. The device was in great condition, works fantastically, and was competitively priced since Chromebooks aren't as popular. She was friendly, knowledgeable and more engaged than staff at other CeX stores I'd visited. In contrast, I looked at buying a B-graded Macbook Air at the Tottenham Court Road store. That device had multiple gashes around the chassis and was filthy. When I challenged the B rating, the clerk shrugged and said the battery was good so that justified it (I strongly disagree). Like I said, it can be hit and miss, but this was a great experience. I am grateful both to the friendly clerk and whoever sold this Chromebook to the store -- thank you, it's perfect for my needs so far, and 2-4x less expensive than other laptops I'd been considering!
