We used Tenement Steps as a one off service as my son was selling his tenement flat, and the close and stairs were in a bit of a filthy state as the majority of tenants don't tend to have cleaning the stairs at the top of the list. TS were excellent; they turned up when they said they would, cleaned the close, two flights of stairs and two windows! Great service and very competitively priced. My son is moving out but would certainly recommend booking them as an ongoing service for your maintenance in your communal areas. Life's too short to be cleaning stairs when you can book Tenement Steps! *****
I think the reality is that this company operates a two teir system, those who have hired them directly and those who live in social housing as they are unlikely to complain for what they see as a free service.
The woman in the previous review who stated that Tenement Steps were in and out her close in five minutes was absolutely not exaggerating.
I have timed them entering and exiting a close, one person with a brush and one with a dirty damp mop.
I complained to Partick Housing about the quality of cleaning and Partick Housing then contacted Tenement Steps to arrange a ”close visit" the day before the visit Tenement Steps had a crew in cleaning my close for 2 hours. Proof that Tenement Steps know they do a shoddy job and IMO a strong suggestion that there is a knowledge of this within Partick Housing.
Question is what was the motivation for someone at PHA to notify Tenement Steps?
Also interestingly they list their address as Byres.
Well I've lived here for 40 years and walk up and down Byres Rd almost every day. Still can't find the offices.
In response to the patronising reply by TS.
The question on why you gave my close a deep clean before an inspection by PHA remains unanswered, the answer is obvious and your act was disingenuous. The honest response would have been to allow the inspection to go ahead to enable any shortcomings to be addressed.
Secondly it was not a "free" clean. It was a blatant attempt to cover up your own failings.
Continuing saga. In the last response TS found it appropriate to not only list what they believe to be my home address (it's not thankfully) but they also chose to list what I pay, this information is also incorrect as is the assumption that I am a tenant of PHA.
If we really want to deal in facts how about removing your fictional business address and stop making the assertion that the 2 hour clean was an act of courtesy and not an attempt to mislead prior to an inspection.
I took a video this morning of two workers, one with a brush and a spray bottle and another dragging a manky mop along the street before entering a close to clean it.
The next video shall be of my close being cleaned.
One question. How can you clean a close with a mop you've literally dragged along a street and no additional equipment other than a spray bottle and a brush?
Videos will be posted on YouTube

The team did an excellent job in cleaning a flight of linotol-covered steps in my house. The steps were filthy with in-grained dirt from years of use & abuse. After the job they look brand new - an astounding transformation! All carried out with no fuss and mess, they left everything spotless. Recommended!

I would just like to say to anyone thinking of employing this company not to bother. the quality of the service has declined over the last few years to a very poor standard. After a change of factors tenement steps had to renew their contract with us. we got a letter stating thate the glass on the door would be polished hand rails and spindles cleaned, cobwebs removed, what a load of tosh, its been done once in 3 years and only after I complained. They dont even mop the stairs, they sweep them carelessly then spray a water and detergent mix, they only mop the landings which are tiled and the lazy sods wont put the mop into the corners, infact if you look at the landing in a certain light you can see the patern in the streaks that the mop has left. My wife timed them one time and the 2 guys were in and out of a two story tennement in 6 minutes. They also dont brush or mop in the corners all along the walls so there is permanently a two inch track of dirt and dust all the way around the close. I have complained to them and they did give the close a full clean, but they still missed bits and it was very half hearted.
AVOID
Constantly complaining to factor regarding the standard of cleaning. One man can sweep and clean three levels in and around five minutes. I think not.
