I do not recommend The Mount Veterinary Practice after the treatment my dog Macy received and the way we were treated by reception.
Macy was admitted for surgery with a normal temperature of approximately 38°C. By the following morning, she was in an extremely poor and helpless condition, and her temperature had dropped to approximately 34–35°C.
The vet had arranged a follow-up appointment for 10:45. However, when we arrived carrying Macy in our arms in a critically unwell condition after surgery, reception told us that there was no appointment. Instead of showing urgency and compassion, we were left with the impression that we might be sent home and asked to return later.
The morning after the operation, we were also asked whether Macy had eaten any of the prescribed food, even though that food had not been given to us, despite being included in what we paid. Furthermore, there is no clear entry in Macy’s medical records confirming that she was given food or nutritional support during the two days surrounding her treatment.
We paid a total of £1,646.22, and in the end our beloved Macy had to be put to sleep.
After a negative review was posted, the clinic replied that they could not discuss the matter publicly because of confidentiality. I understand that medical details may be confidential, but this general response does not address the serious concerns raised about Macy’s treatment, the missing appointment or the behaviour of reception. It does not provide any explanation of what happened.
A formal complaint has been submitted, and the case, together with Macy’s medical records, will also be referred to the relevant professional and regulatory bodies for independent review.
Rest in peace, our beautiful Macy. You were deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
