I was very disappointed with my visit to Ship Inn. The pizza tasted low quality and seemed as though it had simply been reheated, with extra herbs sprinkled on top. The lemonade was warm and tasted stale rather than fresh.
I also wasn’t impressed with the ketchup provided, as I found the flavour unpleasant. The cleanliness of the dining area raised concerns for me, as the tables appeared to need a proper wipe-down.
The atmosphere wasn’t enjoyable either. Staff were singing loudly along to the music playing through the speakers, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal.
Overall, this visit did not meet my expectations, and I wouldn’t return based on my experience. This place instead of being called the “ship in” it should be called the “shit inn”
As a local not been in for a while but have to say the service and food was shocking, ordered the roast chicken with dauphanse potatoes got roast chicken with 2 roast potatoes felt too embarrassed to complain, my son had already asked for another egg on his gammon as the first one was over cooked. The portion size for my meal was akin to something off a kids menu, won't be going back any time soon.
The location of the pub is amazing. Gorgeous on a sunny day down the canal. But the lack of service with the manager on site was dire. Maybe due to inexperience but the only staff member behind the bar wasn’t knowledgeable on the daily specials or even a recommendation on the menu. No WiFi, and they couldn’t provide a receipt due to signal fault, resulting in being overcharged anyway. Sunny afternoon outside didn’t allow outside dining even though two people ordered two pies outside just before us. Scampi was with hand cut chips but the scampi themselves was below average & not great. £130 later, will entertain the Scarisbrick or Sarison head next time

Greeted by 3 lovely barmaids who couldn’t do enough for us and everyone for that matter. The food was delicious the garlic bread was so soft really enjoyed it. I got the Sirloin steak cooked medium rare now the steak come with chips and a grilled tomato and mushrooms I asked could I remove the tomatoes and mushrooms and have a side salad. Now a salad is a salad but the home made mustard dressing was absolutely delicious great staff great food great pub.
I will absolutely never step foot in this boozer again. The food was incredibly substandard for the money, making it well overpriced for the poor quality you actually get. The atmosphere was like a cheap Ibiza rave with deafening music and completely inappropriate songs being played - definitely not a place for families with small kids who don’t want their kids hearing the F-Bomb being blasted out!! The beer garden was chaos, with older kids booting a football straight into the bouncy castle while their parents were too busy getting pissed at the bar to care! To be fair, I can’t complain about the staff, but they couldn't save what was an otherwise miserable family meal. Overall, it was a shockingly bad experience from start to finish.
