Over the last few years I have spent thousands of pounds at CeX. I was a genuinely loyal customer who consistently sold and bought items from the Watford CeX. Unfortunately, I can no longer shop at the Watford store, and I want to explain why. Over the years I have made several returns. All of which have been entirely within my right as a consumer. The CeX Watford team has banned me from making future refunds at Watford CeX because of this. Not only is this a violation of my rights as a consumer, but they have banned me for returns that have not been my fault. Such as: – A product that was not as described (an "A condition" ROG Ally that arrived with worn plastic and screeching triggers) – Products where the website failed to provide key information (a GTX 1660Ti where the specific model wasn't listed so it could not fit inside my PC, and a Lenovo Legion Go S where the chipset wasn't specified) – Simple change-of-mind returns within the 14-day statutory cooling-off period for online purchases, which is my legal right as a consumer Every return I made was either covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (faulty or misdescribed goods) or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (14-day unconditional cancellation for online orders). On another occasion, during the Christmas period, the CeX website clearly stated that any purchases made between November and December could be returned until January 31st. When I tried to return an item under this policy, the Watford team tried to tell me it only applied to in-store purchases, directly contradicting what the website said. They eventually processed the return, but only after making me feel like they were doing me a favour by "letting it slide" as a "Just this one time" deal. Acting highly unprofessional, and seemingly implying they were shifting the blame onto myself. Despite all of my returns being totally legitimate and valid (most of which have been caused by CeX and not myself), the Watford team has now explicitly told me that I am no longer allowed to return ANY products to their store, citing me as "abusing the return policy" – which is not true legally. Let me be clear: returning a graphics card because the website didn't specify the model is not "abuse." Returning an "A condition" device that arrives worn and faulty is not "abuse." Using my legal 14-day right to cancel an online order is not "abuse." And following a clearly advertised Christmas return policy is not "abuse." I don't dislike the staff personally. But the consistent hostility and the final decision to ban me from refunds have made it impossible for me to shop at Watford CeX again. If you buy from CeX online, know your rights. And know that if you actually use them, you may be labelled an "abuser" even when the fault lies entirely with CeX. It is highly unfortunate as Watford CeX is the closest CeX to me, which is why when I have had any issues in the past I have gone to them to resolve it. But clearly I was mistaken on that.

As a long time customer I have held my tongue quite abit about the staff in this store I have witnessed so much that I feel I should share in the hopes something actually gets done about it. First off a the staff in this store and just rude and horrible to and about other staff and to customers not mention they are also very lazy. I have been in the store and witnessed the managers (josh and luis) sat down or standing behind the glass cabinets talking and calling other staff members to jump on the till and serve customers even if they were doing stuff and its not like they were talking about anything work related they were talking about their DnD campaign and laughing so instead of stopping their conversation to do their "job" they'd get other staff members. Ive also heard marc and other employees say to staff " as long as we like you you can stay. If we dont like you youll be made to leave" way to boost moral. Surely it should based on performance and how they do their job not on personal opinion of the employees it just means that someone could be amazing at the job do everything right but if they dont like you, you gotta go. As with any customer service/retail jobs you will have customers who have challenges and different needs and the way to handle that is with compassion, paitence and understanding. After customers who have these difficulties I have witnessed the staff insulting and mimicking their speech and mobility struggles as if its a joke. Ive heard ash say on many occasions that he just wants to go home and smoke weed and will smoke weed before a shift only of josh isn't in while its not illegal it deffinately isn't safe and can put others at risk. Also on the topic of ash ive seen him ridicule other employees who make simple mistakes but only does it when there is customers at the till I remember there was time near christmas when there was a young lad on the till a mistake had been made and ash was hounding him for a good few minutes and speaking to him a very condescending way instead of helping and supporting him. There was this time during the christmas period too (and I aware that staff are allowed to drink alcohol on christmas eve) but I came into the store looking to buy christmas movies for that night and just saw 2 young lads behind the till who hadn't been there that long without a manager in site. None behind the till or the glass cabinets or the testing area and as a long time customer im aware that there is usually 2 managers or more on shift together so where were they all? Leaving 2 inexperienced employees to run the front of the store by themselves? Also the store is always a mess behind the tills and the shop floor. The tills are always full of stacks and stacks of cases which is completely a health and safety issue theres loads of staff behind the tills and most of the time they are talking instead of clearing the till area those cases could fall on a child or they could fall and cause a tripping hazard. Behind the tills arent exactly clear either ive seen staff struggle to get past the mess that is hidden by the till and the area by the glass cabinets is always messy. They have the table which is always piled with things they've bought in and just chucked on the table and around it its no wonder they cant find anything half the time. Alot of what other negative reviews of the cex in watford is accurate. Staff are rude and very much disinterested in what the customers needs are and are just interested in their own conversations. I hope the higher ups do take this comment very seriously and do something to sort this store and horrendous work ethics so the store can be pleasant for staff and the public.

Poor service, I took my phone there which I was selling, after an hour waiting for the manager to carry out manual checks on the phone he said bye then, I asked where is my money,he replied oh you should receive it sometime soon in your bank, I still don't have my money, rubbish service, total waste of my time, it's a joke, why have me standing there for ages when further checks need to be done, explain this to the customers, never again. ZERO customer service as expected with no contact number, the owners are clearly delusional, wakey wakey owners, run a proper business instead of thinking about lining your own pockets,it's been 24hours and still I haven't received my money for my item, you are a useless, untrained, incompetent business, shambles and a joke.
