- TRThomas RichJan 27, 20261.0Generally a decent place to trade stuff in but today was a big exception. I went to trade in a fully working Samsung TV with stand and remote included, the exact model was listed on the Cex website with cash and voucher values. They told me when I arrived (I left the TV in the car at this stage) they needed to check with the “big boss” as they weren’t sure they had space for another TV. The guy seemed very unwilling to make the trade in happen, but he told me to hang around in store “to save you lugging it all the way here and be told no”. I waited 5 ish minutes and they told me it’d be all good and to go and get the TV. I went back to my car, got the TV and brought it over to the store. The guy took one look and made up some BS excuse saying the stand was missing screws. That stand did not come with screws when the device was purchased brand new. The guy became short and quite rude with me when I told him this. In his own words “yeah cool, we’re not taking it”. I traded some other stuff in after that and it felt like they couldn’t wait to get rid of me. Unusually awful customer service and quite frankly embarrassing that you felt the need to make up some BS and refuse a trade in like that. I am an extremely regular user of CEX, and this makes me question whether I’d use CEX again, whether it be for purchases or trading in. Not impressed.
