  Took two phone in to sell they said there be tested by 4pm and funds transferd in 30 mins but they haven't still waiting for money and can't contact anyone to see what's happening I was given receipt to veryify not been payed yet and my mistake dropped off at a cex not in my town

  I am extremely disappointed with CEX. Although the issue was eventually resolved, the whole process was exhausting and frustrating. I bought a second-hand laptop on Thursday and went back to return it on Saturday, well within 48 hours. However, I was told that they could only offer a voucher refund. One staff member even argued with me and insisted that their colleague must have clearly told me about this policy before I made the purchase — which is simply not true. At the time of purchase, I was only told that the item could be returned within two days and that it came with a 5-year warranty. There was no clear explanation at all that refunds would only be issued as vouchers. Yet they repeatedly claimed that this information must have been provided, instead of acknowledging the lack of transparency. The laptop itself had a clear audio issue — the sound was distorted and crackling. After testing it, they claimed the sound was “normal” and that there was nothing wrong with it. But in reality, it was obviously not normal, otherwise I would not have requested a return, especially within the 48-hour period. A male staff member with long hair kept arguing with me, refusing a proper refund and insisting that only a voucher was possible. He repeatedly emphasized how “professional” their staff were and told me to contact customer service instead, showing a clear attitude of shirking responsibility and being unhelpful. Thankfully, after a manager listened to the full situation, I was eventually given a refund. During the discussion, I mentioned that the return was within 48 hours, yet the staff member tried to argue that “two days” does not equal “48 hours,” which felt completely unreasonable. Now I understand their routine: when you buy, they are very friendly and say returns are allowed within two days. But when you actually try to return something, they push vouchers instead of refunds, which feels misleading and deceptive. What’s even more disappointing is that at the time of purchase, I was only allowed to visually inspect the laptop. I was not allowed to properly test it, check internal data, or test the audio quality. When problems were discovered later, they simply denied responsibility. This experience has been extremely disappointing. I strongly advise others to be cautious and think carefully before buying from CEX stores.
