I’ve been to this practice a couple of times. The reception staff have always been professional, friendly, and caring, so I have absolutely no complaints about them.
Unfortunately, my experience with the dentist has been extremely disappointing and has left me with no confidence in returning.
I booked an appointment with my usual dentist after visiting an NHS 111 emergency dentist, who treated the immediate issue and advised me to see my regular dentist to investigate and resolve the remaining problems.
Instead of listening to my concerns, the dentist immediately questioned why the NHS 111 dentist had prescribed antibiotics. Every time I tried to explain, I felt interrupted and rushed. What upset me the most was her repeated sighing and obvious impatience while I was trying to answer. I was in significant pain, trying my best to explain what had happened, yet her reactions made me feel as though I was inconveniencing her. It was dismissive, unprofessional, and showed a complete lack of empathy.
The NHS 111 dentist had explained that the pain was likely coming from the underlying tooth beneath my crown and advised me to have it assessed by my regular dentist. However, she barely even looked at the crown before suggesting I should see a different dentist for crown treatment. I found this very frustrating, especially when she hadn’t properly examined the area herself.
Instead, she repeatedly told me to brush my teeth, despite me explaining that I already brush regularly. It felt as though my concerns were being dismissed rather than investigated.
The examination itself felt incredibly rushed, lasting less than a minute before an X-ray was taken. Although she took the X-ray, she never explained what it showed or discussed the findings with me. She then suggested I needed a filling while also saying that the tooth shouldn’t be causing my pain, which was extremely confusing considering I was sitting there in obvious pain.
This wasn’t my first appointment with her either. On a previous visit, she carried out a filling and I also paid privately for a mouthguard. Despite being a returning patient, I never felt listened to, reassured, or genuinely cared for.
I left the appointment feeling frustrated, dismissed, and no closer to understanding the cause of my pain. I will definitely be changing dentists and won’t be returning. It’s a real shame because the reception staff are excellent, but my experience with the dentist has been so poor that I have completely lost confidence in the care provided. Highly dissatisfied with both the treatment and the attitude I experienced.
