Disgrace of a store, compulsive liars and unethical workers!
Store sold a Guitar Hero for the PC in the store without the dongle! I informed customer services about this, and the store has repeatedly lied about a dongle being included in the sale of the item. The store have a duty of testing the item(s) they sell especially as they give five years warranty. Therefore, I don't understand how they've tested this item without a dongle when it requires one. Apparently, if a customer also checks an item, and makes the purchase, it's the customers fault - how bizarre. The store kept on accusing me of having the dongle within the box, and customer services are also useless.
Furthermore, the week before they also had a Guitar Hero guitar for £18 for the PS4 which was also missing the dongle, and I as the 'customer' had to point this out to staff, who removed the guitar from sale in-store. They ensured me they would be able to get a dongle from their 'parts guy', and took my email so they could contact me when they received this. Guess what? Nothing happened.
I would be very cautious when purchasing from this store, and also other Cex branches, as they seem to be taking in anything to be greedy for sales, and mislead customers.
Customer services were made aware of this matter, but took no appropriate action, and only wanted to waste my time and travel costs by wanting me to return the item back to a store.
Customer services do better, and ensure you help customers out, and check your CCTV before making any false accusations!
1 star is generous. Bought a 4k webcam, sold with non-genuine wire which I highlighted at point of sale but was brushed. Arrived at home, wire doesn't work on camera. Tested with wires I have at home and worked but not to full potential - only 1080p. Taken back to shop less than an hour after purchase, silly unknowledgeable "manager" tested and said working, but it wasn't because he didn't use USB 3.0 wire to achieve 4k quality. Refused to give adequate USB 3 wire and refused to give me refund to card. Agreed that he sold me a '4k' webcam but I can't use it in 4k because he won't give me a wire. Said it works for him at 1080p so it will be returned under unwanted goods and he will only give a credit voucher. I have a decade long career in IT and I can tell you this guy is far from the sharpest tool in the shed. Rude, power-tripped and attitude stinks. Will see you in small claims court soon if not resolved.

I bought what I thought was a new Nintendo switch 2 with Mario Kart download, entered the code only to be told it has been redeemed already. Went back to store and they said it’s because it’s second hand. They didn’t care that I paid almost 400 and have no game.

Update: store eventually apologised and owned up according to customer service and while less than promised, I got the cash value for the correct device.
Incorrectly sent me a voucher dispute multiple dicussions about cash as well as the wrong cheaper model while quoting me the voucher price as cash. all lied to management about confirming sending it to me as a voucher. There's CCTV footage of me confirming my bank details and me checking the account number on my phone. In the end it's £20 difference but avoid this store if you want an honest transaction.
Staff were friendly but this is incompetence, phone will still be sold by CEX under a more expensive model. As a loyal returning customer for 10+ years means I won't be dealing with cex again.
They were going to take it as brand new and were willing to put that transaction through for much higher amounts as grade A but I was honest said it's a grade B and asked them to check the phone.
Went to the CEX Dagenham store, to try and sell a super rare game. The guy at the counter told me straight up, nah cant take it, box looks off, without even checking properly. Then proceeds to tell me some nonsense story, "oh my friend is a sega enthusiast and even he says the box is off". Haha How's he managed to come up with that conclusion, if he's never even seen my product!!!!????
Anyway couldn't be bothered to argue so just left. If CEX doesn't want to buy an expensive game then just say so, no need to come up with silly excuses, and try to say the product is fake. That's bad business practice.
