I’m really disappointed by Robert at the 3 store in Basildon for knowingly tricking me into purchasing a new phone plan. On the 18th October 2025, I visited the store to ask to downgrade to a simple and cheap low data plan so that I could retain my number whilst travelling Asia for a year as I would be purchasing local sims. I was encouraged instead to upgrade my SIM card (at a higher cost) to include Go Roam round the world extra and was told this would be perfect for what I need as it would cover my data in most countries we were visiting. Rob told me that he used to work dealing with SIM cards in some of the Asian countries and that we wouldn’t be able to get local sims without being residents in some of our planned destinations. I explained I would be travelling for a whole year and we even went through each destination to check where was covered. Rob said how brilliant the trip sounded and even spoke about a family member living and travelling abroad. I made it very clear this was for use over a whole year. 6 months into my trip my Go roam benefits were cancelled because I had used it consecutively for 2 months in a different country. This was never explained to me when I upgraded my plan. Why would this plan be recommend to me if it was never possible to use it for my trip? I tried to speak with customer service but only received rude and unhelpful responses telling me I should have read the terms and conditions. The customer service agent also said the plan is not suitable for anyone travelling longer than a short holiday. Unfortunately, I trusted the sales representative who was encouraging me to purchase this plan and told me it would be suitable. My phone is now useless whilst I’m travelling Asia and I’m still spending out for the plan each month. The only reason I can think is that I was lied to in order for Rob to receive commission for the upgrade. I have lost all trust in 3 following this and will be escalating my concerns further. I would advise anyone looking to use sim for travel to look elsewhere! At the time I was really pleased with the customer service but now I know it was a ploy to get more money from me.

Popped in today as I had a issue with my new phone. Adam was a star really helped my and tried to resolve the issue when we realised it was a faulty phone and I orderd online he had no problem calling three for me and sorting out an exchange of handset. Amazing customer service 👏 I really appreciated all the help

Customer service in the Three store in Basildon is great but the people who have to ok it are useless no communication at all
Told I have it then told it's still being processed

I damaged my phone and went to the shop thinking I would need to upgrade early. Robb was very helpful and looked over my phone and fixed the issue. He advised about plans for if I did want to upgrade at a later date. Lady staff member in the shop was also very friendly
