  There was a gentleman who worked here from Ireland who helped me immensely after a complete breakdown after my iPhone decided to update itself in the middle of the Royal Mile and locked me out. Shoutout to all the kind Edinburgh people who pointed out the Apple Store and this gentle, kind store employee who took the time to calm me down, help me navigate my options, and high five me when I finally did remember the password. We had a lovely chat after that and he was remarkably patient. Thanks again, friend! You did save a life that day :)

  Another poor experience from Apple Edinburgh. Paid for AppleCare for years just to be covered if the worst should happen, around £70 a year. Expecting that if something does go wrong, you’d get your device fixed in a timely manner. Four days later, and I’m still waiting, with an additional £80 excess still to pay. The corner shop fixed my out of warranty screen repair in 24 hours for £300. You wonder what the benefit of having AppleCare is. That, coupled with the normal bog standard service you actually receive when you go into the store.

  There was a blonde woman who needed to learn how to speak respectfully to customers. I went to the store to pick up my MacBook Air, AirPods Max, and also buy an Apple Watch in the same color as the other devices. Then I saw an iPhone, touched it—I was at least a meter away from them—and she said, in a dry tone, that there were iPhones scattered all over the store. After that, she said something to the young man she was helping, and they both laughed. I found her attitude unnecessary; if she's having a bad day, it's not my fault. I went in happy and left irritated. 😠 I should have looked up her name to write here; maybe then she would rethink the way she talks to people, but at the time I was so embarrassed that I simply grabbed my things and left.

  I went in to get some help with my Mac, I-pad and phone yesterday afternoon. I met with one of the staff ,a woman at 3pm-ish, who was a most off-hand, unhelpful person who seemed keen to get rid of me as quickly as possible rather than be helpful. I may pluck up courage to go in again, in the hope of finding a more helpful member of staff.
