We purchased our first ever campervan from DG Motorhomes a Weinsberg Carabus 2024 we viewed it at the Newbury Motorhome Show. They weren't pushy and answered all our questions, so we decided there and then after a six month search to buy the German built van. A couple of weeks later we had an arranged pick up time. We turned up the evening before and we were picked up from the local hotel. The handover was thorough, as we expected after the buying experience (including at the show and the office sales team), we stayed at a local campsite and after identifying a couple of small snagging issues, DG Motorhomes attended to the issues straight away I have to say from start to finish, we found the staff and support excellent. We would highly recommend this family run company.
Very helpful and thorough
Bought our 6th 2nd hand motorhome, this time from DG Motors, sales were good when we agreed to buy for £38000, not huge money for a motorhome, but plenty for us. Was informed at point of sale that they would check the van carefully and all would be in good order. Received a list that showed things had been checked and there were no problems. First time away we tried to flush the toilet but it was blocked up, took 2 days to clear and much gunge came out the tank. Found water coming in round a flue in the ceiling, they did pay for this to be repaired. Arrived in Europe, first bit of sun, found the roof light mechanism broken and roof stuck down. We have a long list of smaller things that we have had to rectify ourselves. We believe the van had been unused for some time. We don't believe the van had been properly checked at all. Despite the consumer rights act of 2015 saying they are liable for repair within 6 months, they request that we take it to them for assessment to ascertain whether it's fair wear and tear on an older van. In my opinion fair wear and tear relates to the fabric of the vehicle not parts that should be working. We've decided to pay for repair at a reliable local workshop rather than drive 3 hours each way to see if they'll fix it. Never before have we had issues with a dealer. We use a dealer to avoid these problems. We will not use them again. Check your van thoroughly on pick up.
