1 Star – Overcharged for Misdescribed, Faulty Goods Be extremely careful buying from CeX Uxbridge/High Wycombe. I paid £225 for a pair of AKG N5 headphones as 'Grade A'. I later found out that major retailers like Currys and Richer Sounds sell them BRAND NEW for £129. Not only did I pay a massive premium for a used item, but the headphones I received were faulty (intermittent charging/connection issues) and misdescribed. When I took them to another branch, they identified marks on them and told me they were actually Grade B, yet they refused to help me because their '2-hour test' didn't catch the intermittent fault. So, I’ve paid £96 MORE than the price of a brand-new pair for a used, marked, and broken product. They are completely ignoring the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Save your money and buy new elsewhere. Part 2: Proving the 'Experts' Wrong & Management’s Hostility The Outcome: "Following my initial complaint, I was forced to return to the High Wycombe store because I live only 7 minutes away. If I lived further, CeX would have successfully ignored my rights. I performed a live demonstration in front of the Assistant Manager, showing the headphones playing music while closed inside the charging case—a blatant fault their 'technicians' missed. Faced with this undeniable proof, the manager was muted; he had no choice but to admit their testing was a failure and finally issued the voucher. The Failure of Customer Service: I received an email from CeX Support (Nikita) dismissively claiming the matter is 'resolved' just because I finally got my voucher. There was zero apology for the misgrading, the technical incompetence, or the stress I was put through. A voucher for my own money is a legal requirement under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, not a 'resolution' for being treated poorly. The Defensive 'Police' Remark: Instead of an apology for being proven wrong, the Assistant Manager made a sarcastic parting comment: 'Oh, next time don't say that you will call the police.' To be clear: I mentioned legal authorities at the start because they were refusing to honor the law. He used this at the end as a defensive shield to avoid admitting that his store sold a faulty, misdescribed product and then tried to trick the customer into keeping it. The Pattern: This isn't just one store; it's a pattern in more stores including Uxbridge and Harrow. They rely on 'testing' that is designed to fail so they can keep your money. Do not let them tell you 'procedure was followed'—their procedure failed until I proved it in their face."
