  Excellent service from the knowledgeable Onji. Very patient when explaining the steps he carried out to resolve a problem with my iPad. Had booked an appointment at the Genius Bar and was taken on the dot. First class experience.

  Had a disappointing experience at the Apple Store in Aberdeen today. Accompanied my daughter to the store as her iPhone16, purchased in November 2025, was not charging via the charging port. We were given an appointment quite close to the store closing time. After a cursory look into the port with an instrument resembling an otoscope (used for looking into human ears, the tip of which did not even fit into the charging port), we were advised that the problem was caused by corrosion. However, the phone had not suffered any water damage in the 9 months of its existence !! We were also advised that diagnostics could not be run on the phone. We were further advised that corrosion was not covered by the standard Apple warranty. We were not provided with alternative options e.g repairs costs etc. Not happy with the explanations given, I asked to make a complaint. The Senior staff member ( I am leaving out the name at this stage) who was summoned compared the 'corrosion' to 'a car being involved in an accident' and cheerfully told me that the store did not have a complaints policy. We were also advised that I could not take the matter any further. I advised her that I might try the Ombudsman. The Senior staff member then asked us to leave. If this is standard Apple service, I am sorry I ever brought an Apple phone for my daughter !!

  My iPad mini wasn't charging, so I went in to see if someone could take a look at it. Ryan supposedly cleaned the charging port, then told me there was evidence of corrosion/water damage and that I'd need to pay £420 to replace the entire iPad. I told him I couldn't afford that and left. Got home, plugged the exact same iPad in and It started charging. Maybe there genuinely was some corrosion or moisture involved, but if you're going to tell someone their device needs a £420 replacement, I'd expect considerably more certainty than what I was given here. Absolutely brilliant customer service. Very reassuring. 👍 If you're given an expensive diagnosis here, I'd strongly recommend getting a second opinion before handing over hundreds of pounds.
