On a previous visit, this same location was able to verify me using my account PIN and a text-message verification — the same process Verizon uses when helping customers over the phone. Because of that, I reasonably expected the same verification method to be used again when I came in. This time, however, the female manager on duty on 1/13 at 730pm refused to proceed unless I provided a physical ID, even though I had a digital copy available and had already explained that the store had previously verified me without one. There was no attempt to offer a reasonable alternative or even acknowledge that another associate had successfully used a different method before. What should have taken less than five minutes turned into nearly an hour and a half of me sitting in my car trying to deal with something that could have been handled quickly with basic flexibility and communication. I understand that policies exist. But customer service also requires discretion, consistency, and basic human decency — especially when a customer is clearly trying to comply and has already been verified through other approved methods in the past. This experience left me feeling dismissed and disrespected, and it made a simple errand unnecessarily stressful. I expected better from Verizon, and I especially expected better from a manager.
