We've been bringing our two large-breed dogs to VCA Pines West since they were puppies, hoping to build a long-term relationship with a vet we could trust. Unfortunately, the quality of care has steadily declined to the point where we can no longer justify returning. The feeling now is that VCA's corporate priorities have overtaken genuine animal care. Tech's seem more focused on cracking jokes than on attentiveness, and the vets lean heavily toward pushing medications rather than taking the time to understand our dogs' needs. Record keeping has been unreliable, we've encountered inaccuracies in our dogs' histories and behavioral notes, which is unacceptable when you're trusting someone with your dogs' health. It's also become clear that this location is far more comfortable handling small dogs and cats. Our large dogs have consistently been managed poorly, and treatments are carried out in the back with little transparency. The final straw was bringing one of our dogs in for what should have been a routine blood draw, she came back visibly shaken and near-traumatized. That is not the outcome of competent, compassionate handling. We are transferring both of our dogs to a new veterinarian. If you have large-breed dogs and expect thorough, transparent, and attentive care, I would look elsewhere.

the people working in this place couldn't see my cat because non of them could speak English so we couldn't communicate.

Was a great experience for our first time. Dr Angelica Vazquez was super sweet and professional with our dog. I felt comfortable and all the staff was super friendly. We did a nice choice with this new pet hospital.

I can’t say enough good things about this veterinary office and the entire team. From the very first visit to surgery and follow-up care, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. I especially want to give a heartfelt shout-out to Dr. Thompson, who handled the majority of our dog’s care. She was incredibly kind, patient, and compassionate throughout the entire process. What truly stood out was the way she explained everything — not only in a very informative and easy-to-understand way, but also with genuine empathy and reassurance. You could truly feel that she cares deeply about the animals and the families behind them. That said, the rest of the staff also did an amazing job. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional, and supportive. They made what could have been a very stressful situation feel smooth and manageable. Any time I had a question — even ones I worried might be a bother — they were always happy to help, answer thoroughly, and do so with kindness and a smile. Even though I’ve since moved and now live farther away, I will absolutely continue bringing my dogs here because of the level of care we received. Dr. Thompson and the entire team have earned my full trust. Truly wonderful people providing outstanding care. Highly recommend.

At $90 for just annual physical consultation, it’s not worth it. Add vaccines needed and tag an Tita like $400-$500. Consultation should be waived when getting all fecal services and vaccines. This place is good but not good enough.
