I was told it would take $800 to replace the display on my iMac. I fixed it myself in about 15 minutes by disconnecting and reconnecting the ribbon cables to the motherboard...
My advice to your technicians - go ahead and give it a few minutes of actually troubleshooting before you have a defeatest attitude "we're going to need to replace the display".
I'll give credit to the technician for at least seperating the display assembly.

I went to the Apple Store because my computer was damaged. I was told the repair would cost $917, and only after fixing it could I trade it in for $565. A new computer costs around $1,100, so this makes absolutely no sense financially.
They rude and unprofessional I

The absolute worst Apple Store I have ever visited. associates and management are all incompetent, rude and unprofessional. Maybe they feel empowered to work at this mall store! Ahmed the “genius associate” diagnosed the wrong issue and rather than admit fault just kept being condescending and rude! Never again will I or family go near that place!
