I searched high and low to find an aquatic Vet and I found doctor Brian Madrigal, who was recommended from another aquatic vet that is in broward county. After being told several times there are no aquatic vets in Dade. County, I found him & what an excellent doctor! Extremely knowledgeable, extremely compassionate. Just a sheer joy to be able to be embraced by honest & intelligent care of my beloved Koi! He is someone who really cares about all types of animals. I took my Koi fish that I rescued from a PetSmart at almost 2 inches, 4 years ago and now almost a foot long-suffering from swim bladder disease. I tried it all, peas, fasting, epsom salt baths, etc. I can't say enough good things about this doctor, the staff and if you have a fish, even a fish is family! Please do not loose hope & take a chance with this doctor! Feel good that you are doing all you can for your pet. Love is great but getting the right medical help is golden.

Highly recommend against bringing an animal to South Dade VCA. Brought in a parrot for crop burn, and after surgery they recommended not using a cone. A few days later stitches opened up, restitched and they put on a cone. Stitches opened up again and I asked for a some sort of covering and they recommended against it, and stated “the bird is sutured from the inside, there’s nothing for him to pick at.” After this surgery the stitches opened up again. I repeatedly asked for some sort of covering for the stitches or something different to be done, they “triple sutured the bird”, and said there was nothing different to be done, only for the stitches to open again and the bird perished. They performed the same exact surgery multiple times and tried absolutely nothing different. Several surgeries and thousands of dollars later only prolonged the suffering of the bird. I will never bring any animals back to this veterinarian ever again.

Every month, I have trouble getting my dog’s medication, even though it should be a simple process. The problem always seems to happen when Alex isn’t there — she’s the only one who knows how to handle it smoothly. Additionally, the level of courtesy and communication from some of the staff has been disappointing. They don’t explain things clearly, and it feels like customer service isn’t a priority. I’d really appreciate it if this issue could be addressed so that future visits go more smoothly.

Ridiculously expensive and not useful at all! Took my hamspter who clearly had a skin infection 3 months ago, paid over 250dlls for medicine and “check up”… didn’t get better and didn’t care… now I need to put her to sleep to avoid more pain, and they want to charge 243dlls for that?!!!! And they say they would “wave” deposit fee of 100+ Dlls?!!! Please find another exotic pet vet…
