Giving a 1 star is more than generous for my whole experience, and I know they saw this review coming.
I was always told not to go to geek squad but I was at an ends meet with my situation. Came in with my pc and really needed help with them to help me figure out if my issue was my motherboard or cpu - I couldn’t get it to post. I explained the situation to the worker Roxy, I leave it for two days, was charged the service (almost $200, btw), only for them to call me back and have them tell me EXACTLY WHAT I ALREADY KNEW. Word by word on my voicemail “the issue is either one of two things. The CPU or motherboard” so immediately I’m a little annoyed because I already know that. I call back with my partner, he knows more about computers and pc parts so he was there to also understand, but the service person, Andy, continues to let me know that they didn’t even have the proper pieces to run a proper diagnostics. So I’m wondering what they even did with it if they couldn’t run a proper diagnostics to my pc since they didn’t have any of the pieces to run it.. but I thought this was what they do as a tech service????? He tells me I can get the same motherboard from Amazon and bring it in for them to see if that’s the problem, but the motherboard wouldn’t have been delivered for another week.. next he suggests the Best Buy by the avenues mall in which case they did have the motherboard. I asked if I bought it tonight and brought it in, could they run and test it then and there? The answer: no. Overly frustrated by everything, I head over to pick my pc up and cancel the whole service. It took almost 10 minutes for anyone to even speak to me, the two girls were just sitting by the monitors talking to each other and other BestBuy workers, while I was standing in front of the geek squad table the whole time. I finally get my pc back, return the motherboard I bought from that location, head to the avenues and buy another one to run it myself… only to find one more issue.. my PC case was missing screws and a few pieces from my build was also missing. So unfortunately I had to go back AGAIN the next day to ask for the missing pieces for my PC.. and unfortunately I didn’t get everything back because I am still missing a few screws from the case… not really sure they needed to unscrew any part of the actual case, but ok..
Pretty sure I would’ve been better off asking a random tech service on Craigslist than going here. I’m extremely disappointed in myself for giving them a chance.
