I have been a Best Buy customer since I was twenty five and I have bought multiple headphones over the years, always with a protection plan. Every time I needed to exchange a pair, the process was simple. I could choose any other model. This time was different. I purchased a pair of Beats over ear headphones to try something new. They were not comfortable and the product did not work well for me. When I went back to use my protection plan, I was told that the coverage is handled through Apple and that I cannot exchange them for a different model. They can only repair or replace the same unit. No one explained this at the moment of purchase. If I had known that the policy worked this way, I would not have bought the plan. Now I am stuck with a product I do not like and a process I did not agree to. This does not match the experience I expected after so many years as a customer.
