- JKJerred KaufmanOct 25, 20251.0Switch to Spectrum. It's free for a year +$30.00 a line. Don't waste your time. I was in this Verizon shop a year ago and got my wife and I set up on the same line. The store manager offered us a free phone with trade in and was very clear about there being "no strings attached" They also offered a "free iPad" - Thank God I didn't go for that. In the following year I switched to Spectrum and Verizon continued to bill my checking account for months. Verizon also charged me $850 three months after deactivation with no warning. I went to the store looking for answers and got zero help. I then went to a corporate store and got no help. Then I called customer support and was on the phone for 3 hours. According to customer support there were indeed strings attached. But since I was no longer a Verizon customer, no contract or evidence could be provided. I requested an itemized bill and sure enough the $850 that was owed was the remaining balance on the "free" phone. I would have never agreed to this phone if it was not free. My previous phone was new and now I'm wasting my weekend trying to get back my nearly $1,000 that Verizon charged to my account after 3 months of deactivation. This stores manager lied to me and now I'm paying for it. DO NOT go here! If you're just trying to make it by in life like everyone else, save your time, money and sanity and go with a more affordable plan and DO NOT take anything from this store marketed as "free" and don't get caught in the infinite loop of customer negligence from Veizon. This store does not care about its customers and takes no ownership in misleading people to make a dollar.
