- JBJustin BuckmanJun 16, 20251.0Made an appointment on Apple to replace my iphone battery (out of pocket). When I show up, they say 1.) they have to do a diagnostic and can only change the battery if it is 79% or less. 2.) they may not have the battery in stock and I could have to come back. Irritating in that- 1.) 79% isn't mentioned anywhere, and if I'm at 81% (like I was) and paying out of pocket, what does it matter? and 2.) I made an appointment to change out a battery, and specified what iphone I had, why would I then be told, "they can only help if they have the battery in stock"... busy area of best buy, would have been more frustrating to make an appointment, check in, get called for them to run diagnostics, and get told that they can't help due to the arbitrary 79% rule.

If I still wanted service it would be 5 hours instead of 1 - 2 I had been quoted. Was told I could reschedule but the same thing can happen if I reschedule. General rule: say walk-ins only if that’s all you do!
