I made an appointment for routine vaccines and an exam for my cat. The kind and competent vet I had for my last 2 visits had left the practice, so I requested a vet other than one I had once a few years before. The new vet detected a heart murmur and diagnosed hyperthyroidism. This vet's tech brought my cat out after drawing blood yelling at me because she was unable to do a nail trim because apparently an 8.4 lb. cat not feeling his best had it in for her (seriously). My cat had a lot of vomiting on a Sunday about 4 or so weeks into his meds. I called the next day. The vet asked me if she could move up his appt to get another blood test and an anti-nausea med though she was unable to be there. I complied. At that appt her tech spat out the results at me,
stating repeatedly how dangerous all 8.4 lbs. of my cat was before the other vet stepped in. After the other vet left the room, the tech was setting up the scale & my cat crawled to the edge of the table. I held him so he wouldn't jump off and that is when the tech made contact with my arm and screamed "DON"T DO THAT". I let that contact go, maintained my patience, let her dress up in shoulder length mitts and some type of canvas protective jacket that reeked of every animal she ever handled until my cat could safely leave. I settled my (as always) onerous bill and & made an appointment with a new vet the moment I got home. The new practice is communicative, humane and I am so happy with them. I fully understand that the Mars Company, owner of the VCA hospitals, has had a great deal of profit concerns, being unable to make chocolate profitable without using child labor. So, their investment in pet care, with the VCA hospitals being their real cash cow, makes a lot of sense to them. Animals will never respond to CBS News investigations no matter how old they get. I was a long-term customer, not a sales goal, and definitely not a target for a hostile employee. My pet deserves even better treatment than me because I do have some real human faults. I do, however, sincerely wish the best to the customers of this VCA and hope you do better for them.

“Lazy” care at best but I’d go so far as to say neglectful. After being “treated” 2x for pneumonia at VCA Foxon, my dog came down with it a 3rd time. Called them for an appointment and they told me that he needed to see a specialist but it was the weekend so I brought him to the ER. Doc at ER told me it keeps coming back because it wasn’t treated properly the first two times and he would have prescribed antibiotics for 6 weeks (vs the 2 weeks they gave him). At the new vet I switched him to they said the same thing. When I made a complaint to VCA they took no accountability and the medical director at VCA Foxon was extremely rude and condescending. Cared more about being right than the health of my dog. Told me she was “offended”. I had been going there for 6 years before this and didn’t have a bad experience but clearly they don’t know how to treat pneumonia and resulted in my dog having to stay overnight in the ER and a $4k bill.

I’ve been going here to Dr Smidt with my shih zu Lyla. Lyla is a little hard to get used to because she’s very protective of me . The Dr. found that if they take her in another room where she can’t see me she is much better. The dr also gave me
medicine to calm her when going there and to her groomers. They all have so much patience with her and I really appreciate that. I would recommend this 100%
