I recently got a dog from Foothills Animal Shelter. My vet technician friends all said to use the voucher I got from the shelter to save money. Most of my friends are up northern part of Colorado. Never in my 25 yrs of owning dogs and training dogs have I experienced 1.) A vet assistant who doesn't show affection towards a dog who not growling and is showing signs of anxiety 2.) A veterinary technician who obviously doesn't understand that dogs are curious and love to smell thus leading the leash. Plus poor doggie had kennel cough and several allergies. I knew that I needed to change to a vest for the dog so it would stop the dog from straining its neck when it was pulling the leash. Telling an owner they need to pay to train the dog that I recently got was a slap to the face especially if you tell said vet technician that you are starting to train the dog. This dog has so much trauma and at no point did any of the staff help the dog to feel more comfortable. Plus it's been known that if you're gonna check a traumatized dog's trachea you might wanna pet the dog and slowly move your hands to check the neck. Never try to place your hands in front of the dog's face going towards the neck in a semi-half triangle because then it thinks you're playing with it thus the dog wants to bite the hands. Also, you traumatized the dog more when you were checking his temperature not understanding that the dog had no idea why you were holding him. A little tip, pet the dog and have a nice amount of treats. Praising the dog for being good and you might be surprised how the dog will allow you to check back there. Yes, you still have to have an assistant hold the dog in case it bites but this lets the dog be distracted and calm. I'd rather drive up 50 to 60 miles north just to see my friends and them treat my dog like an actual animal, than a dangerous dog.

Dr. Susan Lewis truly cares about animals. My puppy almost didn’t make it, and she recommended surgery as soon as possible. After the procedure, she took an extra five minutes of her own time just to check on my puppy and make sure everything was okay. She really went above and beyond. I’m so grateful for her care and dedication. Thank you !

I adopted a dog from foothills and the VCA offers a free first exam. The vet tech was kind and amazing (all the stars for her). The doctor (an older woman) was snippy and rude. You get what you pay for. I left before the exam was finished and will absolutely not be back.

I just had my first visit here and I am very impressed! Dr. Jen loves her job and it shows in the way she cares for her patients. She took the time to explain everything as I was anxious about my dog and she proceeded to check in with him the next day on her own. The staff was all so kind and professional. I would recommend Dr. Jen over and over to anyone!

I think the hospital violated my rights as the owner of my account. They told the person who took the kitten from me and stated how much in my account. Did not even call and ask me anything. Horrible move but oh well we lost the kitten and my daughter is crying
