I brought my beloved cat jojo here to be treated when he wasn’t able to use the litterbox and the staff here were amazing. Everything down to the lobby was the perfect setting for someone worried about their pet in an emergency. There was coffee, tea and plenty of places to sit and magazines to read! The doctor was constantly giving me updates and I left with the knowledge of exactly what they did and how to help my cat at home. Thank you!!!

VCA Alameda East Hospital has great employees, from front desk staff to the Dr's which makes a typically tough time much easier to deal with. My puppy broke her back 8 weeks ago and Dr. Kopf and Dr. Minner and their staff were bright lights in a tough time. Their knowledge and ability to explain the medical side in easy terms while loving on my puppy made it less stressful for me.The follow up and advice were also extremely helpful. When my regular vet is not available and it's an emergency I will always choose VCA Alameda East Hospital. Thank you!

VCA Alameda East almost killed our dog by not evaluating or treating him when he was in a dire situation! We were referred to VCA after seeing our vet because VCA said they could do an immediate ultrasound to see if he had an obstruction . He had been vomiting all night and was not doing well. We arrived at 12:20 and they took our dog for an evaluation. We sat in the waiting room, and kept asking for updates and received no word. At 3:50 a vet came to tell us that our dog had not been seen or evaluated and that the ultrasound was no longer available. We were furious. Our dog was in danger. We told them to bring us our dog. Not only had he not been evaluated or treated, they didn’t even take him to the bathroom and he was leaking urine on the floor and desperate to get outside. Today I received a bill for $117 from VCA. This is not about the money, it’s about the principle. The only thing this hospital did was threaten our dog’s life and wellbeing. No services were rendered. After sitting at VCA for over 4 hours while they did nothing for our dog, we left there and drove 2 hours to Fort Collins to be seen at CSU. At the CSU emergency animal hospital, they did an ultrasound, confirmed a full obstruction and performed emergency surgery to save his life. He then stayed there for 2 days. We paid over $12,000 for their services, but our dog is alive and well! VCA put our dog’s life at risk and now want to charge us for nothing! This was negligence and incompetence at its finest! We will never go back! We would recommend using another hospital in an emergency. CSU emergency animal hospital was truly amazing and took very good care of all of us!

I love this place and can't recommend them enough. We see Dr. Steen as our primary vet and we absolutely love him and his "paw" side manner. We also recently had an urgent injury and we ended up at the emergency side. We were able to consult with Ashley via call and text to get advice. She was wonderful and helpful. When we arrived the staff was doing a great job sorting and triaging patients with care and calm professionalism. It was a very busy night for them, and the wait was quite long, but the staff was super involved and kept us informed and apologized repeatedly. Dr. Hilty took such good care of our dog. She was educational and respected our own medical knowledge. She actually ended up saving us a ton of money from a quote we received from another vet. They even bandaged our puppy up with little hearts on her bandage!! 💚🩷 I'm so very thankful for this place!!

Brought my dog here after serious complications from a neutering at another clinic that required a 24-hour hospitalization at VCA. Sayed and the evening reception staff were kind, patient, and sympathetic-- very comforting during a stressful time! Dr. Deitschel provided updates as promised and explained everything thoroughly. This group's care no doubt laid the foundation for my dog's progress that was nothing short of a Christmas miracle. One small snafu related to internal communication: we discussed a food allergy with both doctors and several staff members, but it didn't reach the person who fed him (minor issue and well-intentioned, but worth mentioning for future clients).
