The company was founded in 1896 by Jean Gygax. At that time, its premises were located on Freiestrasse in Biel. Initially, the bodywork was built onto existing chassis. Around 30 employees were involved in manufacturing and assembling doors, bonnets and so on for a wide variety of vehicle types. In 1936, Paul Liechti took over the company and restored its former name, Carrosseriewerke AG. During the war years, manufacturing and production continued on a reduced scale. In 1948, the company moved to Nidau into its current workshops – at the time in the ‘green outskirts’, today almost in the centre of the town. From 1970, the company was managed by Hans Siegert-Koch. Carrosserie V. De Feo AG was taken over by Carrosserie VDF Sàrl in September 1998. In recent years, Mr V. De Feo and his team have built a strong reputation in Biel and the surrounding area. Their clientele consisted of private customers, garages and insurance companies with partnership agreements. In 2025, the name Carrosseriewerke AG was replaced by Carrosserie Kompetenz Center Nidau AG. At the same time, Carrosserie VDF Sàrl was taken over by Carrosserie Kompetenz Center Nidau AG. Today, Carrosserie Kompetenz Center Nidau AG employs 36 staff under the management of Miguel Oliveira. Thanks to state-of-the-art facilities and qualified staff, all bodywork is carried out to the highest standard. Tinsmithing Thanks to our modern facilities and the right equipment, we carry out all bodywork on cars, classic cars and commercial vehicles ourselves - whether made of sheet metal or plastic. We also carry out work on air conditioning systems, track and steering geometry and wheel servicing directly on site. Painting Whether partial or complete painting - we make sheet metal and plastic shine again in the shortest possible time. We consistently use environmentally friendly water-based paints. Painting work is carried out efficiently, precisely and on time in our three modern stoving booths. Our polishing service rounds off the offer: the paint surface is thoroughly cleaned, refreshed and sealed - for long-lasting shine and optimum protection. Commercial vehicles In addition to passenger cars, we also repair and maintain commercial vehicles, buses and special vehicles. We are particularly specialised in work on aluminium bodywork.
