  I took my dog for a quick afternoon walk at Heather Farm on 27 March. As he was snuffling along he did one of those "stop/drop/roll" moves in some cut weeds. He ended up with a foxtail in his ear! Fortunately I am familiar with Encina Vet Med Center as a 24-hr emergency care clinic. I drove the several blocks up Ygnacio Valley Rd, and unannounced, walked my dog in and it only took moments before we were checked in and he was headed for an exam room. It was a pretty short wait to see a vet - my luck it was Dr. Maggie Chang - LOVE HER! He had to be sedated bc he's a giant Golden Retriever (Rooney) and I knew he was in the best of hands. Autumn, the vet tech who walked me through the paperwork is a lovely person, too. I went back several hours later to pick him up - even at 10:00 PM, Jessica, at the front desk was a delight and there was Autumn again, being lovely. This was the silver lining to a not-good-unforunate situation. I am so impressed with the professional and personal care we received. Bravo!

  I was referred by my primary Vet to VCA in Walnut Creek for cancer treatment for my dog. While you hope you never have to go through something like this with your animals, I cannot recommend Dr. Bennett more! Hudson was diagnosed with an aggressive mass cell tumor, which broke my heart. But with Dr. Bennett's care and support we were able to have another 2 years of good health and many adventures together. I feel so grateful to have been connected to Dr. Bennett. From the very first time we met, through every appointment, treatment, and check up - I always felt supported in decisions, given options, and she took the time to answer all of my many questions. While I didn't have insurance, this was a very large expense. With that said I always felt that the price was reasonable and was always given quotes before I made decisions. While the majority of our care in these 2 years was with Dr. Bennett. In Hudson's final months we did have to make a couple of Emergency Trips on weekends to VCA and was always very impressed and taken care of with the team at VCA. Hudson's last day came very quickly, like overnight. And that last morning the team at VCA took care of us again. The care, and the love for animals they have here is unmatched. I also can't finish this review without shouting out Alex and all the techs. Truly everyone here is amazing! Thank you for taking care of my sweet Hudson.

  For several years VCA Encina Medical Center has been our preferred choice for emergency care largely due to its adept, compassionate medical team. Whether it’s the receptionists, vet techs or skilled weekend emergency doctors such as Dr. Sarah Vasend and Dr. Damion Walters, the Encina staff has always been exceptional. It also bears noting that their professional commitment to ensuring the best care remains intact even during late nights and wee hours. In addition, the location itself—from the waiting area to the individual rooms—is always spotless and orderly. We’re thankful VCA Encina has been there for us in times of crisis and highly recommend their emergency services.

  Unfortunately, we have had to use VCA Encina for two speciality events and one emergency event in the last 14 months. Fortunately, VCA Encina has been fabulous each time. One of our dogs needed significant dental work because of a botched procedure elsewhere. Encina's oral surgery team got him back on track. Our other dog has been going to Encina for the last four months for chemotherapy and then unrelated emergency surgery on New Year's Eve. Each time, the desk staff, vet techs, and vets have been fabulous. They are communicative and friendly. Dr. Bennett of the oncology staff is especially thoughtful, transparent, helpful, and gives great care. Both our dogs are doing great because of VCA Encina. If you have the right insurance (we use Trupanion), Encina direct bills and we only have to pay our pet's co-pay.
