- KKKevinDec 15, 20251.0Absolutely do NOT recommend VCA Old River Animal Hospital. They have changed for the worse. Their system “glitched” and somehow deleted my dog’s long-standing auto-ship medication that had been on file with Dr. Jackson, who was AMAZING. Of course, Dr. Jackson has now left, and everything has gone downhill since. Now the “general manager” — who is not a veterinarian — decided to play doctor and tell me that my dog’s condition, pannus (chronic superficial keratitis, scar tissue/cloudiness in BOTH eyes), isn’t a chronic condition. That is flat-out wrong. Pannus IS chronic and requires lifelong management. I’m sorry, but where did you get your veterinary license to make medical decisions? Instead of simply continuing an established treatment plan that has already been diagnosed, documented, and treated for, they now want me to: Cancel all my existing plans Schedule a visit with another doctor Pay AGAIN Just to be told the exact same thing: Yes, he has pannus. Yes, it’s chronic. Yes, he needs ongoing medication. This is a complete waste of time, completely unnecessary stress for my dog, and feels like nothing more than a money-making scheme. This hospital used to be great. Now it’s disorganized, dismissive, and more interested in billing than patient care. Losing Dr. Jackson clearly took the quality of care with him. Highly disappointed. Highly frustrated. Highly do NOT recommend.
