Very good. Their competition is largely not great. Staff super friendly. Dr on point. Big waiting room to separate dogs and cats. Nice building. Ease to park. Interior smells good. Not always the case.

I’ve read many reviews and have read plenty of the bad ones. I can’t speak for them as anytime it comes to our pets and emergencies emotions are high and costs can get expensive quickly. Personally I’ve been to this vet for 3 different situations. Once about 12yrs ago when I discovered a lump under both armpits of my dog and noticed he was acting off and suspected lymphoma. Unfortunately it was lymphoma but they were very compassionate with his diagnosis and very honest about chemo treatments and the costs. Luckily we had pet insurance, however the insurance company was trying to not cover it claiming it was a pre-existing condition and our vet and the team went above and beyond to argue against the claim and we ended up getting coverage. All of his chemo treatments went smoothly and my dog Whiskey always was in a great mood after. He went into remission for 3yrs before it came back after we moved back to Texas. He lived 2 more years until the cancer just stopped responding. This clinic was always wonderful to deal with though. Second time was a family friend was visiting and we caught her dog eating rat poison in the feed room at our horse stables. We immediately induced vomiting with peroxide then rushed her here. We were seen promptly and the staff once again was very kind and understanding. My friends dog stayed one night to be monitored and treated with fluids and vitamin K and was sent home the next day with at home treatments and pulled through just fine. The third time was last night, well technically 1:30am on Saturday. Our Australian Shepherd had gotten into the trash that morning and we caught her eating a few buffalo chicken wing bones from the day prior. She seemed fine until dinner time and was eating slower than usual. By 11pm she had very bad diarrhea and continued to have it till midnight where it then turned bloody. Around 1am she started projectile vomiting and didn’t want to move unless we forced her. We rushed her in without warning and arrived around 1:30am. The front desk/tech greeted us immediately and was very kind and listened to all that happened. We voiced concerns that the bones may of caused a bowel obstruction or perforation and she immediately relayed that to the vet. The vet was very friendly and immediately began taking vitals, and doing abdominal X-rays under light sedation. Luckily there was no obstruction or perforation and they could see the bones were already starting to pass. Our dog Pinot was given IV fluids, antibiotics for an inflamed GI and anti nausea meds. We were told to call or come back if anything changed and if she started to take a turn for the worst. So far she’s doing good and has been acting much more like herself and even ate her dinner of rice and turkey. The bill was not cheap but it was what I would expect for an emergency visit with abdominal imaging. I’ve had hefty vet bills in Texas too for emergencies so I guess I just know what to expect. Thanks again and we appreciate y’all’s care over the years.

My male cat had a urinary block and I took him here completely panicked and scared. The vet was so calm and explained everything to me. The financial officer worked with me and helped reduced costs and even got me some assistance. They planned a secondary surgery offsite, working with the humane society so my baby could have the best chance of recovery. They gave me everything I needed to help him going forward and answered all of my silly questions. I can't thank them enough for helping us both. He's going to live a long and healthy life!

You saved Daisy’s life and we’re forever grateful for your excellent care and compassion! You took her in immediately, you kept us apprised, we were prepped for the worst but TG we did not go that route! You have called and checked on her each day and have answered our questions and eased our concerns. Thank you for saving our crazy Daisy! xoxo

Do not EVER take your pet to the VCA emergency vet on Mendocino. After his second urinary obstruction in 4 days & 2nd 3 day stay, I pleaded with them to do a urinalysis for days as he had a fever and they refused! DOCTOR BROWN said “he’s too young to get a UTI and we’re not going to do a urinalysis because of your financial situation- being on a payment plan.” The Humane Society stepped up and tested him first thing. MOMMA KNOWS!! I will always advocate for the ones I love, doesn’t matter if he’s an animal or a human. He’s my baby. I want to also mention that they Roughly handled him going in the first time, The one lady carrying him balancing him on one leg, dropping his catheter on the ground That painfully pulled on his urethra, While swinging the door open to the hospital. she could have dropped him! They have no automatic doors. The handicap door button doesn’t work. The VCA values profit over animals & doing proper test testing even if a concerned pet parent begs them. It was a no-brainer to do a urinalysis when he had a fever And his second obstruction. He had all the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. I am a furious pet parent. There will be consequences VCA!
