  I had an extremely frustrating experience with Geek Squad and would not recommend them to anyone. I brought my computer in due to a hard drive failure and explicitly told them it needed a new hard drive. Despite this being clear from the start, I was told a diagnostic was required, which I paid $200 for. After dropping it off, I tried calling multiple times over the next two days and could not get through to anyone. I eventually had to walk into the store, only to be told that my computer hadn’t even been looked at yet and that diagnostics would take five days — something that was never communicated at drop-off. Five days later, they told me exactly what I already knew: the hard drive needed to be replaced. I was then told it would take one day to complete the repair, followed by the incredibly unprofessional comment of, “You can take it to another store if you’d like.” That’s unacceptable considering I had already paid for the diagnostic. After that, they left me a voicemail saying the data transfer wouldn’t work — and then proceeded to ignore 10+ calls, forcing me to physically return to the store again the next day just to get answers. More than 24 hours passed after I was told the repair would be completed. When I went to pick it up, I had to stand in line for over an hour. The order status was never updated accurately — it still showed “being diagnosed” even though the diagnosis was already complete. When I asked about it in person, I was told “it’s being wrapped up,” despite the computer clearly having been finished hours earlier. No one called or notified me that it was ready. I was finally given my laptop back with a new hard drive — but zero data transferred, with the explanation that the data was “corrupted and couldn’t be transferred.” Overall: terrible communication, long delays, inaccurate status updates, ignored calls, and a complete lack of accountability. This was a huge waste of time and money, and I regret trusting Geek Squad with something this important.

The whole experience was fast, smooth, and stress-free! P.S. If you ever run into an issue, go straight to Geek Squad in person. Save yourself the back-and-forth of online chatting… you’ll thank me later!

  Complete waste of my time. It’s sad when the Geek Squad rep refers you to use ChatGPT. They’re lucky I don’t blast them by name.
