Called with emergency concerns for my cat and was advised by the front desk to bring him in. Waited 40 minutes after being told we were next in line, so we asked about timing. She said about 5 minutes. After waiting over an hour total we asked again and she said “The doctor just said it would be a while”. Only one tech and one vet on site, allegedly, but they didn’t bother to let us know about the increased wait. Go to FRVH instead if you’re worried about your pet and it’s an emergency.

Rude staff, they don’t care, it’s all about money. The doctor was nice, the medical assistants were rude. I would understand if one was rude, most of them were rude. They need to explain more. They gave my baby a shot and told me it would make her tired. She slept for two days. I had to google the side effects, they didn’t educate me on it. They should also be asking more questions, such as “is this a service animal?” That is very important. Educate your staff and give them sensitivity training.

I am compelled to express formal concern regarding the care and treatment my dog received at the VCA emergency hospital. Following my decision to take my pet to the facility due to breathing difficulties, the administered medication resulted in an overdose. Upon contacting the hospital again due to my dog's ongoing respiratory issues, the technician's response seemed dismissive and unhelpful. When I inquired about further assistance, the technician asked what else I could do to help my dog, to which I responded, 'I'm not a professional, that's why I'm calling.' The technician then instructed me to bring my dog back, quoting a fee of $180, which I found astonishing given the circumstances. IV administration for methadone in strong drug for small puppy but they cared less. I strongly question the decision-making process behind administering gabapentin and sending my dog home while still in distress, particularly considering the high dosage. This experience raises significant concerns about the protocols in place and adherence to veterinary standards. It appears that financial considerations may have taken precedence over animal welfare, which is distressing for pet owners who prioritize their pets' well-being. Furthermore, I am troubled by the apparent lack of expertise in interpreting radiology reports, as evidenced by the need to have a radiologist review the x-rays. Having taken my dog to my regular vet, I was dismayed by the substantial costs incurred, including $800 for the x-ray and $200 for the radiologist's interpretation, in addition to the $180 fee mentioned earlier, totaling a significant amount added to thousand dollars. Given the severity of my dog's condition and the inadequate care received, I expect a more comprehensive approach to addressing the breathing difficulties rather than merely prescribing gabapentin. The care and attention seemed overshadowed by a focus on financial gain, which I find unacceptable. VCA animal hospital in Sacramento The report that I received did not indicate anything about my baby having difficulty being their main focus was to take care of the shoulder injury VCA Animal Hospitals Ariel Loredo,DVM This doctor had no education or knowledge of my dog breed she treated her like a older dog not a pup. My German shepherd, one morning, without prior warning couldn’t walk properly. I took her to our regular vet who ran all kinds of tests but he wasn’t able to find the underlying cause so he referred me to VCA specialty clinic where, after only a couple of tests, the specialist was able to diagnose her with an autoimmune disease that was attacking her joints. She was prescribed medication, a several month treatment with no guaranteed results but in the end she was able to recover. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for the exceptional care my pet received there. The vet, the staff, everyone involved went above and beyond to provide me with the best care possible for my pet. So grateful indeed. This specialty clinic represents the best place for hard to diagnose diseases but you need a reference from your regular vet.

The staff was very friendly. The surgeon we consulted with was knowledgeable and gave options for treatment right now and down the road regarding a lobster claw deformity on a front leg of one of our rescue dogs. She also put in a consult for a potential prosthetic, but advised that the process for those can be long with multiple fittings and adjustments. We were very happy with them.
