Never did we think our little girl, Samantha, wouldn't be returning home. We brought her in after a referral from our primary vet. We were promptly seen, and we discussed our next steps: hospitalization with an NG tube, fluids, a horde of medication, and tests. We were optimistic and relieved that our girl was getting the help she needed. We got to take her home after discharge, but she continued not eat. During the time we had her at home, Dr. Tepler called us multiple times to check in on her progress, answered our many questions, and explained everything in great detail with kindness and understanding. Once we realized she wasn't getting better, we returned with her and had to make the very difficult decision of putting our girl to sleep. Dr. Tepler was right there with us, expressing her deep condolences and just saying, "I'm so sorry," and for us, it felt genuine, as if it was hurting her, too. She left us to say our goodbyes and never pressured us. With her kindness, understanding, and genuine care for our girl, she made this incredibly hard day just a little easier. This hospital treated our kitty girl with love, care, and tenderness. I would recommend them to anyone, despite the trauma of having to say our goodbyes. So thank you to the staff and techs that showed us kindness on our hardest day, and special thanks to Dr. Tepler, who made a world of difference for a day we never thought we would have to experience.

I brought my dear senior cat, Bubby, who had lung cancer there for euthanasia services and everyone was SO EMPATHETIC AND DEEPLY KIND AND COMPASSIONATE when we both were suffering in our sorrow!!! I was DEEPLY bonded to Bubby and everyone, especially the extremely kind doctor who performed the euthanasia, was just so kind and amazing here!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

VCA Neurologist Dr. Kelly O’Connel is our angel. Olive, my 5 year old chocolate Labrador has been battling seizures for three years. Dr. Kelly has been at my side throughout the entire ordeal. She is kind and compassionate to both Olive and me. It’s obvious that she cares and wants the very best for us. This is a long journey and she is so very dedicated. ❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰

My experience here was a price gouge and financially exploitive. I'm only giving two stars because my pet is alive and well. For a lot of us, our pets mean the world to us and we would pay whatever it takes to get them well. So, when we are told by a veterinarian certain tests are needed and we're watching our beloved struggle to walk we sign off on the invoice provided to us. In this case, those tests had already been done and I was financially exploited through repeat and unnecessary testing. already had labs, an ultra-sound and health data on her status from my regular vet from that day. But, we had to re-do all of that. Did we though? Was it necessary? I don't believe so. I am now in 7k of debt from this one vet visit. The outcome was that she needed antibiotics. I know these vets and vet techs are competent and could have figured that out without 2 ultrasounds. I was told my bill would be from 12-20k if she needed surgery. If that had been the case I would not have been able to pay for it. Our pets are going to die because the cost of vet care has gotten so out of hand. These prices are predatory. If like, myself, you've noticed these prices have increased by 2 or 3 times the amount in the past 5-8 years it is because they have. Mars, Inc (the candy company) acquired our Sacramento area VCAs in 2017 and proceeded to put profit above all else. This is a multi-billion dollar company that is profiting off of our desperation to save our pets. It's disgusting. As a consumer you can go in prepared, advocate that unnecessary tests and procedures be removed from your invoice, take a moment to think and consult a trusted loved one and pressure them to start treatment before you pay (as they will pressure you to pay before they administer even one drop of medication to your pet).

I went through this facility as referred by my vet for neurology appointment which was no problem. Dr Kortz was great. But later when my dog has a mass (newly diagnosed) with worsening eye bulging and breathing, I couldn’t even check him into the ER because they (secretary with the pink and blue hair) said “we don’t do emergency imaging”. I’m an ER physician and I’m sure there is a difference with vet medicine however my vet tried to speak with them as well and they wouldnt budge. We ended up going to UC Davis’ vet ER after my vet spoke to one of the ER docs there and they took him in and now he’s getting the CT scan he needed. I would just go to Davis for emergencies.
