Our 18 1/2 year old dog Birdie had a very difficult weekend. We called all over Monday and VCA got us in that day. It was very hard to say goodbye but the time had come. Everyone we dealt with were very thoughtful and caring. Thank you for your kindness.

In October 2025 my neighbors dog attacked and injured my dog in our fenced backyard. My dog suffered a broken leg. Initially the vets office VCA Oroville seemed to be very caring and helpful. My dogs leg has been splinted and I asked for a quote on an amputation once her lacerations healed. I was given an estimate but was told she would have to be seen by VCA in Chico before VCA in Oroville could consider amputation to see all possible treatments ahead of time. I went to VCA in Chico who wanted to try casting therapy before offering surgery which cost twice as much as amputation. Afterwards the VCA in Oroville agreed they would do the amputation. She was in for surgery and during surgery her O2 levels kept dropping so the surgery was cancelled. I was then referred to VCA in Redding who agreed to do the amputation and had the surgery appointment set. VCA Oroville wanted my dog to come in before surgery to re-splint her leg once more before surgery. Upon this visit a new X-ray indicated my dogs leg was healing according to the vet and maybe some time to allow it to heal might be better than amputation without informing me that in the end of splinting weekly for 4 more weeks this will be costing an additional $700-$900 just to see if it is working!!! I have already paid $2440.19 in vet fees and my dogs leg and it is still in a splint. I would have never cancelled her surgery if the VCA in Oroville would have been transparent about the cost of trying to let it heal. I have decided to no longer use VCA Oroville because the will give you the run around, are incapable of properly following through on a surgery, and squeeze as much money out of you as possible!

Called so many times and kept being ignored, no answer and no response back I will not be taking my pet here because they don’t care like any other place around they just care about the money.
