  We went into Best Buy fully prepared to purchase a gaming PC that day. Best Buy was our go-to store, and we honestly weren’t considering shopping anywhere else. Our son specifically wanted to shop in person because he was excited to speak with someone knowledgeable, learn about the specs and understand what he was getting rather than simply ordering a computer online. Unfortunately, the salesperson seemed uninterested in helping us. He offered very little information, didn’t engage much with our son and didn’t seem particularly knowledgeable about the PC. When we were offered the floor model, we asked for an additional $50 off and he wouldn’t budge. It wasn’t the $50 that made us leave. It was the overall experience. We were ready to buy, but simply didn’t feel like our business mattered. We walked across the road to another store, and the difference was immediate. The gentleman helping us was friendly, approachable and extremely knowledgeable. He explained the specs, what they meant and why they mattered, answered our son’s questions, joked with him and made the whole experience enjoyable. We ended up finding a significantly better and more advanced gaming unit that normally sold for about $1,100 more than the one we had considered at Best Buy. Ironically, after the sale and additional discount, we actually paid about $50 less. We also purchased a five-year protection plan after the gentleman thoroughly explained the coverage, including accidental damage, without making it feel like a sales pitch. Our son learned a valuable lesson that day too. Sometimes it isn’t about $50. It’s about how people treat you and the difference a little time, knowledge and genuine customer service can make. Had we received that experience at Best Buy, we would have made our purchase there. Instead, another store earned our business, our son got the experience he was hoping for, and we walked away with a much better gaming system. Unfortunately, Best Buy dropped the ball that day, and someone else picked it up. Customer service really does go a long way.

  Beware. If you buy something from their marketplace sellers, they don't deal with refunds or exchanges. The staff in North Bay is good, but the company, not so much.
