  I cannot say enough about the incredible team at VCA Mission Animal and Bird Hospital. Over the past few weeks, they cared for my dog James during the most difficult time of his life and mine. What started as trying to understand why James had developed a cough led to a difficult diagnosis of advanced cancer. Throughout every step of that journey, the staff here was honest, compassionate, and genuinely caring. They never made me feel rushed, always took the time to explain everything clearly, and helped me make the best decisions possible for James. I want to specifically recognize Dr. Bernal, Dr. Litwaitis, and vet assistant Raquel. These three were exceptional. They treated James with such kindness and dignity at every visit, even when he was anxious and not feeling well. Their compassion extended beyond just medical care, they cared about James as an individual and about our family as a whole. The front office team also deserves recognition. Every single visit they were warm, welcoming, and kind. It made walking through a difficult door just a little bit easier every time. James passed away peacefully at almost 12 years old. He went on a good day, in my arms, after receiving the best possible care from this team. As heartbroken as I am, I have nothing but gratitude for everyone at VCA Mission who helped make his final weeks comfortable and his passing peaceful. If you are looking for a veterinary team that will treat your pet like family, look no further.

  VCA always takes care of our sweet pug. Dr. Carla Bernal is absolutely amazing and has been our vet of choice for over a decade. She’s great with reptiles too and is the reason we got many more healthy years with our beloved leopard gecko. Not everyone was willing to work with a tiny gecko with eye issues but she was up for the challenge and our little one kept his sight. Great people.

  Got a free exam from SD humane society at downtown. But do notice if you Uber here from La Jolla, the cost is 100 dollars including back and forward, which is almost the cost for one exam. I wash SD humane society allows a hospital that is nearby.

  The customer service manager, Maria, is really rude and condescending. The vets have been okay in my experience, but the services here are pretty expensive compared to other vets in the area. They have some weird practices here too. The vet techs and front staff have always been really nice to us though. However, there's many other options beyond this vet office I'd look elsewhere.

  My family has been bringing our family members here for 12 years now. I can't say enough nice things about all the staff and doctors. The level of customer service here is SUPERB!!! They make always feel special like extended family. I am never upsaled or pushed into doing something I don't want to do. They always want the best for my pets as do we. We have lost 2 pets here and they are always caring and compassionate in our time of morning. We have recently had a emergency with one of our pets and with the doctors, staff and level of experience and equipment we could have lost him. We are so thankful words can not describe. I would like to do a few special thanks to Dr. Landon, Dr. Graves, Dr. Jones, Dr. Devorchak, Dr. Peterson, Madison, Dakota, Rosie, Breanne, Dara and Lisa and anyone else that played a part in nursing our baby Without all of you collectively as a team our baby might not have made it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
