Coming here has always meant a wait and a high bill. The receptionist are not welcoming. They will allow you to wait in your car but the receptionist are not helpful in setting this up.

After my Frenchie started having spasms and couldn’t walk, I brought him here because our regular vet in Duarte wasn’t available. The front desk staff were decent, but the female vet immediately pushed for surgery and a bunch of expensive procedures that my dog didn’t even need. She wouldn’t come back to the room to talk to us directly instead, she sent an assistant in with paperwork and prices, even after we asked how much it would cost to put him down (just to see how far they’d go).
The next day, I took my Frenchie to our regular vet, and guess what? He was fine. No surgery. No X-rays. Just pain meds. Turns out he had a sprained back leg and couldn’t put weight on it that’s it.
So yeah, VCA Animal Hospital read between these 🖐 lines. You’re more focused on the bill than the animals. Money hungry, plain and simple.

Dr. Shaw is an outstanding caring and compassionate doctor. I’ve been taking my beloved cat Jade to Dr. Shaw since 2008. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and treats us like family. There was a time when my cat drank poison outside and he was convulsing and would not stop. We immediately went to the nearby VCA and Dr. Shaw was in and immediately started working on him. She worked on him for hours. Dr. Shaw saved his life. Later in life, he had more health problems which were treated. My cat always knew that Dr. Shaw would make him feel better. We trusted Dr. Shaw completely. I always appreciated the phone calls after the visits. Jade developed cancer and eventually we decided to put him down. He never worried and was put down with compassion and love in October, 2025. My cat was 18 years old. We always received top notch care from Dr. Shaw. I highly recommend Dr. Andrea Shaw and the staff at VCA.
