On or around September 10, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., I visited the Apple Store at CF Polo Park. Customers seeking assistance or service typically approach the front of the store to be greeted and triaged by an associate (the ones with the iPad on hand). Unfortunately, the level of customer service I experienced did not meet the standards I would expect from a premium retail brand. As someone who worked in retail for over a decade and previously served on a RCC Industry Validation Committee, I found the experience disappointing. There were two female associates at the front who appeared to be engaged in conversation with one another. It took an awkward amount of time for either of them to acknowledge or approach us. No effort to initiate contact - not even a "how may we help you," it was an awkward look. Eventually, I had to start the conversation and explain the reason for the visit. While the issue itself was minor, the lack of acknowledgment, initiative, and basic customer engagement left a poor impression. Based on this experience, there appears to be a gap in either staff training or the standards in recruitment and onboarding.

Don’t bother scheduling appointments….. we scheduled two battery replacement appointments back to back. We showed up at our scheduled appointment time and were told by the manager of the store, “sorry, it’s too close to closing and we cannot complete your service.” When we expressed disappointment she told us “sorry you feel that way”, then gave us a list of excuses to justify wasting our time. She then said “to complete your service, technicians would need to stay later.” Miss, you are the manager of the store, you make the schedule, no? This is your failure. Not the technicians. Anyways, basically the feedback was show up as early as possible regardless of if you have an appointment because we take walk-ins and they may bump your scheduled appointment. Thanks for nothing Apple.

Apple has gone down hill. Seriously considering switching over to other devices. Went in to the Apple polo park location for a simple fix. All I needed was to get my Mac book unlocked because I changed the log in password and forgot it. Waited in line for 30 mins because it was busy and that’s totally understandable - but what is unacceptable is that when you get to the front of the line to be helped my an Apple Store associate, only to be told that they are no longer accepting appointments today and a appointment isn’t available until next Monday. That’s five days from now. Does Apple polo park think I have nothing to do work wise for the whole week? That’s what is unacceptable. Here’s a suggestion maybe hire more staff or I don’t know maybe open another Apple Store location at like st.vital mall if you can’t keep up with the demand ? Totally unacceptable to let your customers go 5 days with out help because you are that busy and can’t take anymore appointments. Clearly this is not the same company anymore when Steve jobs was the ceo.

We had a bit of a mixed experience at the Apple Store in Polo Park. I want to start by saying a big thank you to Jason. He was honestly amazing. We were just passed over to him by another associate, but he was so willing to help. He took the time to listen to all our questions and explain things to us without making us feel rushed. He was patient, friendly, and really made us feel taken care of. The lady with the green bangs was also really helpful. I unfortunately didn’t get her name, but she was kind and actually tried to help us when we were already getting frustrated. Unfortunately, we also had a very frustrating experience with another associate. I don’t remember her exact name, maybe Carol or Kara, and her name/ID wasn’t visible. Even our first interaction with her didn’t start off very well. She told us to scan the QR code from her device, but my husband didn’t hear her clearly and thought she was going to scan the QR code from his phone. Instead of just repeating or explaining it, she seemed annoyed right away and made a face. Then, when the Wi-Fi was slow, she asked us to switch from the Apple Store Wi-Fi to our own internet. I understand that slow Wi-Fi can be frustrating, but we felt that she could have been a little more patient and understanding, especially since we were simply trying to follow the process. We were there to pick up an order and followed the process and lined up. She helped us with the pickup, which was fine. After that, we asked if she could help us with some accessories, but she told us to go to the accessories area because she couldn’t help us there. We followed her instructions, but there were so many people and no one was available to assist us. We ended up ordering the accessories online just so we could actually get someone to help us, and then waited another 20–30 minutes for the order. When it was ready, we lined up again and showed our QR code to another specialist, who then sent us back to the same associate. I asked her if she could help me with the screen protector because I wasn’t sure which size I needed. Again, she told me she couldn’t help and couldn’t install it. What really frustrated me was that it felt like she didn’t want to leave her spot to help us figure out which screen protector we needed. We weren’t asking for anything complicated—we just needed someone to point us in the right direction because we weren’t sure which one was compatible with our phone. At the same time, while we were there, I could see her walking over to the accessories section and helping other customers get their items. That made us feel like she was willing to do it for other customers but not for us. At that point, I was honestly really frustrated. I understand the store was busy, and I completely understand having to wait. That’s not really the issue. It was more about feeling like we were being passed around and not getting the same level of help as other customers. Thankfully, we eventually talked to the lady with the green bangs, and she explained that they could install the screen protector and referred us to Jason. Jason then took the time to help us and answer all our questions. So overall, it was a very mixed experience. We went to the Apple Store excited about our purchase and honestly expected the experience to be fun and enjoyable, but it became quite stressful because of that one interaction. I really appreciate Jason and the other associate who helped us. They showed us that there are definitely employees there who genuinely care about helping customers. I just hope management can look into this because even when the store is busy, customers should still feel welcomed, respected, and helped. A little patience and kindness can make a huge difference in a customer’s experience.

Frustrating experience with a damaged new iPhone and an unclear replacement process On August 30, I ordered a new iPhone 17 for $1,129 through Affirm. I picked it up from the Apple Store at Polo Park on September 10. After opening it, I noticed a small dent on one of the camera rings. I returned to the store within approximately 10 minutes to report it. A manager explained that, because the purchase was financed through Affirm and connected to the phone’s serial number, the store could not simply exchange it. I was told I would need to return the phone, have the original loan refunded, apply for a new loan and repurchase the phone. The problem was that Apple had increased the price from $1,129 to $1,299. I could therefore be required to pay an additional $170 before tax, or approximately $190.40 after Manitoba tax, just to receive an undamaged replacement. I did not think this was fair because I reported the damage immediately and was not responsible for it. On September 11, I contacted Apple Sales Customer Service. A replacement request was opened, but its status remained pending. On September 16, I called again to follow up. The representative said the request was still pending and suggested that I might need to return the damaged phone before the replacement could proceed. Following that advice, I made another trip to the Polo Park store and returned the phone. Apple emailed me confirming the return and refund. Affirm also confirmed that the $1,129 financed balance had been refunded and the plan balance was now $0. Although the refund was completed, this made me concerned that returning the phone may also have cancelled the separate pending replacement request. After I got home, I called Apple Sales Customer Service again to confirm that the replacement remained active and that Apple would honour my original $1,129 price. I was told to wait another 24-48 hours. During another follow-up call (September 17), an agent transferred me to a senior agent, who then transferred me to someone else. After the second transfer, it seemed that I had been sent back to another general customer-service representative. I became frustrated because I had to explain the full situation repeatedly, and nobody appeared to take ownership of the complete case. I reported the damage immediately, returned to the store within 10 minutes, made multiple calls, travelled to the store again to return the phone and followed Apple’s instructions. The original Affirm loan has now been fully refunded, but I still need clear confirmation that my replacement remains active and that my original price will be honoured. I understand that Affirm financing can make the process more complicated. However, Apple should have a clear procedure for replacing a new product that arrives damaged. A customer should not risk paying a higher price because the original device was damaged before it was received. I hope Apple improves coordination between its retail stores, Sales Customer Service and Affirm-financed purchases. One representative should take ownership of cases like this and provide clear written confirmation. I will update this review after Apple provides a final resolution.
