This clinic and surgery center took such good care of my whippet, Luna, who tore her ACL and needed knee surgery. When she got hurt, we were so concerned about what would be the best plan, what are the options, how much would it all cost and how to coordinate a big undertaking like surgery. Well, from our first conversation with Martie (surgery coordinator) I knew we were going to go with Loomis Basin for her surgery. When I reached out she called me back same day. She had all the answers I needed to make a decision and more. She made me feel comfortable with the plan, the team, and set the expectations from the start so I knew what to expect every step of the way. And everyone followed through. We had great surgical care, consistent communication and quoting, and great nursing. I highly recommend for surgical care based on my experience.

Brought my dog in for an evaluation to be put down or not. After she was put down in conversation with the doctor it's very obvious a full evaluation was not done properly because asking about certain conditions with the dog the doctor obviously dud not even know anything about. When I asked about a pain assessment I was given a very obvious BS answer, not even referring to places in the dog that were hurting. They just put the dog down without any proper evaluation, without any possible things that could be done to extend life or improve conditions. Unprofessional veryvselfish uncaring only intrested in the money aspect my guess. Horrible behavior. The dr was Aimee Gallaro who i dealt with that morning. Ive worked with 2 other doctors that were pretty darn good. I just got the wrong Dr thst morning, sorry to say.

I am so impressed with the care my cat received while he was hospitalized in the ICU at VCA Loomis Basin Vet. The front desk person called us by name when we walked in to visit Scout and when we came to pick him up. The vet on duty each day called us at least twice per day (morning and evening) to give us an update on Scout's progress (he had a urinary blockage.) We dealt mainly with Dr. Velasquez, but all the vets were very patient with our questions and never made us feel rushed. We were allowed to visit Scout and saw how well they were treating him (giving him a blanket and a bed for him to hide under.) He's always been my "undercover" cat, and they noticed this and accommodated his need to hide underneath blankets. Yes, they are expensive, but the care is excellent and they really took impeccable care of our baby while also treating us with respect and kindness. We were advised daily regarding how much our bill was. I highly recommend taking your pet here in an emergency. We actually ended up getting a $2,000 refund after paying the estimated amount upon initial hospitalization. Honest, dedicated and very caring people!

on January 24 I brought my senior dog into the ER for a ruptured anal gland she received great care by Dr Wolley and the staff on duty . however I cannot say the same on subsequent visits on Thurs Jan 29 I brought her back in because my sweet dog was experiencing incredible pain , after waiting hours the Dr came out to the Lobby to talk to me telling me that my dog was just chilling in the back and she was comfortable .. we decided to do a blood test to see if she could go home on a pain medicine or anti inflammatory because the Dr thought she might have hurt her neck or have degenerative disc disease .. when the lab came back with everything clear except an elevated BUN she sent us on our way with codeine and really no explanation as to what was wrong . we were back that same night in the ER waiting nearly 4 hours because my dog was still screaming out in pain. At the time of the afternoon visit the Dr told me they had a hard time getting blood from Lola , after doing some research I found that if very little blood was drawn an infection might not show in blood work , no other diagnostics were offered to me to find out what was causing my dog so much pain . I felt dismissed , and not believed because my dog was a senior and because she was masking her symptoms at the vet . on Saturday morning I returned to the hospital again to put my baby out of her misery and pain . the doctor that performed the euthanasia was amazing , I am just disappointed in the Er doctors that did nothing for her in between Thurs and sat , It may have been my dogs time to leave this earth but she didn’t have to die in so much pain , but was charged excessively for them just saying what they think was wrong . I feel they missed an infection which turned into sepsis and I feel my dog died in unnecessary pain instead of peacefully .

I received poor medical direction from the veterinarian Shannon Cook during a distressing event. My dog was brought to VCA Loomis Basin on Sunday, Nov. 30th because she had chronic kidney disease and refused to eat that morning and was lethargic but walking with a stiff gait. The doctor explained kidney disease, toxins and possible treatment but feared poor outcomes and offered euthanasia. I trusted the doctor to give me the best medical advice. In hindsight, the doctor should have emphasized the best place to start would be with a blood test to check kidney values before making a decision to euthanize or provide treatment. A BLOOD TEST to check kidney values WAS NOT DONE. I DID NOT disagree to testing or possible treatments. Suggested treatment costs weren't provided. The euthanasia form and cost were presented, and I said NO. The vet came back to speak to me again and mentioned a blood test to be sure, and I didn't object. Again, no cost for a blood test was presented and a blood test was NOT done. She also gave additional prognosis of possible doggy dimentia and a possible slipped disc due to stiff gait and that made things sound worse for my dog. I felt pressured to euthanize. They brought the form to euthanize again. Regretfully, my dog was euthanized.
