  I brought my dog here for an overall physical exam as he was due for one, he was prescribed medication for his teeth and given the discharge paperwork and physical prescription as I wanted to purchase it elsewhere. So I ordered it off chewy and marked that I will mail in the prescription, yet for some reason chewy calls the VCA instead for verification but VCA informs Chewy Pharmacy there is no record of this. I informed Chewy I mailed in the physical prescription, and again they call the vet and informs them there is a prescription yet VCA still tells Chewy to not fulfill the order and that my dog needs to come in for another exam. Firstly why would I pay for another exam within the same year for the same concerns?? I have records and willing to provide to Chewy as well but they didn’t bother and cancelled the order. So now I don’t have the physical prescription and have to pay again get my dog to be seen again. Plain shady

  I’ve had four pets with them throughout the years, and can’t recommend this vet. Many staff and newer Vets have been very helpful. I’ve had to board my pets here, as well as put down two of them, all comforting experiences. Unfortunately the downfalls include: wait times to get appointments, front desk staff having too many “off” days (25% of the time they are unfriendly or short, it’s never been personal but geez), and Dr Armstrong always trying to get me to spend hundreds of dollars for all my animals to get lab’s EVERY visit I’d ever had with her as adult animals. The costs outweigh any benefits for me to continue care with them. I’ve never had a horrible experience, but I also can’t recommend this vet. Hope this review helps anyone considering VCA EG.

  Super disappointed. My family has been bringing my dog and our other pets to see Dr. Armstrong and they have had nothing but good experiences with the vet and her assistant. I called the Elk Grove VCA front desk to verify some documents because I am active duty military and trying to fly overseas with my dog. I had inquired to see what the vet can do to help me. However, when I called the receptionist that answered the phone, Micah, was very rude over the phone was not helpful. Today I went into the office to get a document signed by the vet and spoke to another receptionist. I told him that I wanted to speak to the vet to get paperwork signed. He had informed me that the vet was unavailable due to surgeries but he was willing to help pass my contact info to her so she could contact me when she was available. However, Micah had butted into the conversation and told the other receptionist that i was the patient she informed him about yesterday. This tells me nothing but that she is unprofessional and refuses to assist me. She continued to talk to me with an attitude and her supervisor was not in the same facility therefore I could not file a proper complaint. This next appointment will be my last with this animal hospital. I will not be recommending this treatment from such healthcare “professionals/providers” to any family or friends. My family and I and our 4 pets do not plan to return.

  Most vets are falsely named hospitals in Sacramento. They are one, no walk-ins, no emergency care.
