- ECEllen C2 days ago1.0Best Buy Prescott. Had an appt at the "geek squad" counter to replace a MacBook Air frayed power cable. Gave the "geek" the cable and the Mac serial # and my iCloud sign on info and everything the so called "geek" wanted but after 40 minutes he could not figure out which cable I needed (he had the cable in his hands mind you). Said I would have to pay for it anyways if he could even figure it out but I told him I had AppleCare and they have always replaced these in the past but he said that was not the case and I could just buy one in their store but I naturally thought how could I even buy one if he doesn't know the correct cable??? When the "geek" and I had reached a standstill, I cheekily thanked him for completely wasting my time and said I could have driven halfway to the closest Apple Store already (Glendale AZ) and I left. Best Buy does not know Apple products and should not be allowed anywhere near one. Came home and straightaway called Apple and they said to let the Best Buy manager know what happened as it looks bad on Apple but when I called the store they said there was no manager extension to connect me to and refused to give me their name, hence the written review. Apple also stated, as I knew, that the cable would be replaced free of charge either by mail or in any Apple store. Now I will change my password at Apple (Apple wanted to know why he needed access to my Cloud acct and stated he never should have asked for it) in case the "geek creton" attempts to do nefarious things with my account. Don't even drive on the street this store is on if you own an Apple product.
