Reads Moving Systems of Carolina, Inc., a proud agent of Atlas Van Lines, began its journey in the moving and storage industry in 1955. Based originally in Charleston, SC as Palmetto Moving with just a few trucks, Reads built a strong foundation based on attention to customers' needs and a commitment to quality service. Our approach to delivering a consistently superior level of service is assured through our well-trained employees, our fleet of trucks and equipment, and both Reads locations, which oversee every personal move and corporate relocation right down to the smallest detail. At Reads, we go the extra mile for our clients because we believe the details and processes of any size move truly matter. From inspecting items delivered to our front door for clients to surveying each move to ensure our pricing remains competitive, our number one goal is customer satisfaction.
Our employees go through vigorous on-the-job training to ensure our customers receive the best care possible. We hold several certifications that back up our commitment to setting the standard in the industry, because that matters to us. As a family-owned business dating back to 1955, we treat every move and customer interaction with an extended amount of dignity and care. Serious about security, we only hire team members who meet tough Atlas requirements, and background screening for all Professional Van Operators (PVOs) and crew members is a must. You can rest assured that your valuables and your home are safe in our hands. Attention to detail, commitment to service, and a legacy of excellence- that’s what you can expect from Reads Moving Systems.
These images don’t even begin to show the damage done to our household goods. Two large flat screen tvs were packed in the same box along with other large pieces of decor and then packaged upside down. Many things weren’t put in boxes that could’ve easily fit, such as this toaster oven, nor were they wrapped in anything so they were loose when they were put onto the truck. Things were just thrown in boxes without any care whatsoever. Many glass items in boxes were never packaged with paper.
They also didn’t even bother to keep items in the same rooms together. Most of my boxes are fills with items that came from various rooms which is making unpacking extremely difficult. There should be no reason why I’m finding kitchen items in my master bedroom boxes.
I’ve never seen anyone so careless with another persons belongings. I don’t know if it’s laziness and/or they could simply care less about your life and things that mean something to you. And to the people in my home “joking” around and being disrespectful, maybe you should learn to read the room and know when to stop talking. Thanks for making moving that much harder.

I have never been so appalled at such a terrible moving experience as I have with Reads Moving Company. I am so angry with how they handled my move with constantly pushing back the delivery date, forcing me to live in an almost completely empty house sleeping on the floor while I wait for my household goods to arrive for more than a week and a half. When it finally arrived, things were broken, things were missing, and the piece of paper that should have been included to do a simplified check off was also missing. I heard nothing but excuse after excuse from their scheduler Jim, who insisted on trying to placate me by saying things such as "certain drivers are not allowed across particular state boundaries" which is a blatant lie.
The only good experience I had was the moving team that came to actually pack up my items who were very nice and professional. For the team themselves I give them five stars, but for the company as a whole and how they have so horribly mismanaged my shipment, I would give zero stars if I could. I don't know how many times I had to call them because Jim would never call me back, and if he did, it was almost always near the end of their working day when I could never get a hold of him afterwards. There was absolutely no communication between us that wasn't initiated by me, and with the exception of once, he never made any effort to contact me to let me know what was going on.
If you absolutely have to pick a moving company to get your items from point A to point B even if, as in my case, I am less than three hours north of their warehouse, I urge anyone strongly to look elsewhere at a more reliable company. Even doing it yourself by renting a U-Haul would be a more efficient and timely manner to accomplish your move. Stay away from these people.
