My experience with Let’s Get Moving Austin was a complete nightmare.
The owner, Colin, assured me that my belongings would be taken care of. My biggest concern was my washer and dryer, along with the rest of my furniture.
The move was scheduled between 2:00–4:00 p.m., but the movers wanted to arrive early because they had finished another job ahead of schedule. I agreed after receiving a call saying they were on the way. However, they somehow drove to my new apartment instead of my old one, where they were supposed to pick everything up. That mistake alone wasted over 30 minutes.
Once they arrived, it was obvious there were communication issues between the two movers. One of them ignored instructions, and they didn’t even wrap my washer and dryer with moving blankets until after they had already taken them outside. As a result, both appliances ended up with dents and damage.
The movers also seemed to waste time instead of working efficiently. I actually had to tell them to get moving because they were standing around. One of the movers was rude and had an attitude when calling to ask where to park the truck. I made it clear that disrespect wasn’t acceptable.
Things got even worse when one mover dropped several of my boxes. I heard glass breaking, and instead of apologizing, he simply looked at me, picked the boxes up, and kept going as if nothing had happened.
After the move, I was shocked when they tried to charge me over $500, even though I had been told the total would not exceed $400. I disputed the charge with Colin because I believed the extra time resulted from his employees wasting time and mishandling my belongings. Instead of taking my concerns seriously, he immediately defended his staff and refused to believe they had done anything wrong.
I sent photos of the damage to my washer and dryer and, as of now, have received no response.
For a one-bedroom apartment consisting mainly of a king-size mattress, a washer and dryer, and a relatively small number of boxes, the move took over three hours. Colin even tried to tell me that my one-bedroom apartment could take longer to move than someone else’s four-bedroom home. That explanation simply doesn’t make sense.
I’m extremely glad I decided to move my TVs myself because, based on how everything else was handled, I’m not confident they would have survived the trip.
I cannot recommend Let’s Get Moving Austin. Between the damaged property, poor communication, unprofessional behavior, unexpected charges, and lack of accountability, this was one of the worst moving experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re considering hiring this company, I strongly encourage you to look at other moving companies first.
