  Our family spent a delightful half day charter with Captain Ray. It was a full boat with Mom, Dad, Gramma, Grandpa, and our 7 year old. The Captain was prompt in responding to us, flexible in scheduling, and tailored the trip to our request for wonderful trip for our little boy. We were worried about a rainy weather forecast, but the Captain shared that conditions on the island were often fine due to onshore breezes. The day was indeed lovely and we managed to get the crew to the dock on time where the Captain was waiting with a very clean boat. We were able to quickly store our snacks, sunscreen, and phones and headed out. The boy sat in the high seat next to Captain on the way in and out of the river to the sea. Everyone had a seat for a smooth ride. The Captain took time to explain the fish finder and answer questions about, well, just about everything! We spotted dolphins, saw fish jumping, and the boy spotted a sea turtle taking a good look at us. Our trip didn't land many 'keepers' but the whole family caught lots of smaller fish. It was surprising how fast the morning went! We moved from spot to spot with both casting and bottom methods. Across the water, we were surprised to see our timeshare from the ocean. It was our first trip out to the ocean, but we all felt safe and no one was too bothered by the rolling and waves. Returning to the dock, Captain neatly cleaned our fish and we had it the next night for dinner. There's a nice diner at Snead's Ferry for lunch. Good parking at the dock. There's a store across the street if you forget snacks or drinks. It was the best memory from our beach week. Don't forget hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We are looking forward to booking again next summer!

  Went out with Captain Ray and he did not disappoint in any way! Fish were caught, new methods were learned and good conversation was had. He is truly knowledgeable on all things fishing and was a pleasure to learn from and fish with!

  Captain Ray is a local guide who grew up in the area. He is knowledgeable about the fishery and explains why we are fishing the way we are. My son and I fished with Captain Ray last week and caught red drum on top water lures. Captain Ray is a top-notch teacher as well for those that need guidance. He provides tips for the seasoned angler as well. Book a trip - you will not be disappointed.

  I’ve been chartering fishing trips for me and my sons for several years in the sounds and inlets of North Carolina, and Captain Ray has been by far our best guide yet. Put us on the red drums and gave my 9 and 5 year old boys the experience of a lifetime. Even better, my wife caught the biggest fish of the day! To top it all off, Captain Ray filleted our fish for us (a service which I’m finding to be increasingly rare from fishing guides) and sent us home with an outstanding recipe and several pounds of meat! Five stars to Captain Ray and Spring Tide Guide Service!

  This was some of the best salt water fishing I have had. I primarily bass fish so salt water fishing is a whole different ballgame to me . Ray really knew what he was doing and was able to put us on some big fish. Very highly recommend.
