  I wish zero stars was an option. We hired North American Van Lines, through its local office, University Moving and Storage, to move from IN to VA. We experienced poor planning, inadequate communication, significant delays, and a prolonged delivery failures. From the beginning, communication was inconsistent. Our original contact at University Moving and Storage stopped responding without explanation, and we were subsequently eventually directed to another representative after multiple communication attempts. The problems continued on the loading day when the assigned driver was significantly delayed with little to no communication, leaving the local moving crew angry and waiting for hours due to poor coordination. He finally arrived with a truck clearly too small for our shipment. The company knew we were moving from a 3,700 sqft home, that our neighborhood could accommodate a tractor-trailer, and that we had previously completed moves using a tractor-trailer. Because the truck was inadequate, a substantial portion of our belongings were left behind for an overflow shipment, resulting in incomplete furniture sets eventually being delivered. The overflow shipment was placed into storage in Indiana without this being proactively communicated to us. Despite a contracted delivery window, we did not receive our second shipment until five-weeks later! Throughout the process, we repeatedly contacted the company for basic updates and were told they could not secure a driver. Representatives were often unaware of our situation, forcing us to repeatedly explain the issue. Our assigned representative even went on vacation without ensuring anyone else was monitoring our case.The first delivery was also significantly delayed with little communication, leaving the local crew waiting and threatening to leave. The prolonged absence of essential furniture was especially disruptive while relocating with two small children and significantly affected our ability to function daily, furnish our home, and return to work as scheduled. We were even encouraged to purchase reimbursable items and use air mattresses while waiting, an unreasonable solution to a problem caused by the moving company. A customer service manager even acknowledged that the company did not have an adequate process for handling a delay of this nature. Overall, North American Van Lines and University Moving and Storage failed to provide the level of service reasonably expected for the substantial amount paid and failed to meet the contracted delivery timeline. What should have been a routine move became an absolute nightmare due to their poor planning, lack of communication, delays, and disorganization. Based on our experience, I strongly urge anyone considering these companies to look elsewhere and avoid them at all costs.

  I can't say enough good things about this company. Tracey my moving coordinator was phenomenal! Everyone I worked with has been great, and we are getting an early delivery tomorrow, hands down would only use them.
